The Unhealthiest Meal Found On The Chick-Fil-A Menu
Who doesn't love Chick-fil-A? Besides, maybe, chickens, whose population Chick-fil-A has done its share of depleting. Perhaps dietitians might also have a chicken bone to pick with this popular chain, too. While the restaurant may offer some relatively healthy options such as their grilled chicken sandwich and egg white grill, the fact remains that they're serving fast food, so taste is always going to trump nutritional value.
Let's say you're so over trying to eat healthy, though — perhaps it's a cheat day or the day before you're starting a new diet and you want to go out with a bang. What should you order if you want the absolutely unhealthiest meal from the Chick-fil-A menu? Bring on the fat, the salt, and the sugar. Come on, Chick-fil-A, show us your worst!
For a main course, you should definitely go with a chicken sandwich (duh, it's Chick-fil-A), but not just any sandwich: the Spicy Deluxe. At 540 calories, it somehow manages to out-unhealthy even the non-spicy Chick-fil-A Deluxe. Who knew "spicy" added 40 calories? Extra fat and carbs, too — 25 fat grams and 43 grams of carbohydrates, as opposed to 23 and 42 for the plainer version.
Chick-fil-A's least healthy side dish is the newly-introduced mac and cheese, which manages to be even worse than the waffle fries. It sees the medium fries' 360 calories and18 grams of fat and raises them 440 calories and 27 fat grams. It is a tad lighter on carbs, though, with a mere 29 grams to the fries' 43.
When it comes to a beverage, for maximum unhealthiness there's nothing like a shake. The worst offender on Chick-fil-A's menu is cookies and cream, offering 610 calories, 25 grams of fat, and a whopping 85 grams of carbohydrates for a small shake. The summer season-only peach milkshake is even worse, though, with 670 calories, 22 grams of fat, and 106 grams of carbs. That's no way to stay in shape during swimsuit season.
Let us do that math for you: That's 1,590 calories and 77 grams of fat for your spicy chicken sandwich, mac and cheese, and small shake, which is almost your entire recommended calorie intake for the day, and definitely maxes you out on the fat.
Once your cheat day's over and you want to return to sanity, you might be thinking about ordering one of Chick-fil-A's salads, but even here you've got to watch out. If you order the Cobb Salad with Nuggets and Avocado Lime Ranch dressing, you're looking at 860 calories, 61 grams of fat, and 33 grams of carbs. Whoa, maybe it's safer just to brown bag it until your next cheat day.
