Experience

Dan began his professional writing career in 2017 when he joined New Adventures in Lisbon, Portugal as part of the international entertainment writing team. In 2018 he moved back to his native Dublin, Ireland to work at Dataminr as a writer and LatAm Expert, serving as the lead for Spanish and Portuguese language content. In 2020 as the pandemic hit, Dan left his office job to set up a new business with his friends, designing and operating boutique food trucks serving top notch food and beverages including tacos, smash burgers, and specialty coffee. Dan kept on writing in his spare time and now combines his love of food and writing as a writer here at Mashed.

Education

Dan earned a BA in International Modern Languages from University College Dublin. There he studied Adaptation - the art of translating and adapting text from one language to another, which helped him learn how to write for different audiences. He wrote his dissertation in Portuguese and English on the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake. Dan also completed his Erasmus year of studies focusing on Portuguese and Italian studies at the Universidade de Coimbra in Portugal.
