How To Order A BLT From The Wendy's Secret Menu
A BLT has three key ingredients: bacon, lettuce, and tomato. You can toast the bread, microwave the bacon instead of frying it, or use imported heirloom tomatoes — no matter how you make it, if you have bacon, lettuce, and tomato, it's a BLT at heart.
While BLTs could be considered "diner fare" instead of fast-food, fast-food companies have been known to explore the deliciously simple combination of bacon, greens, and tomatoes. While BLTs and other such sandwiches are common menu items at places such as Subway, other companies have tested out their own takes on the BLT as well.
McDonald's, for example, tested their "Smoky BLT Quarter Pounder" in Maryland back in 2021, while Carl's Jr. and Hardee's debuted their own ranch-soaked takes on BLT sandwiches in June of that same year (via QSR Magazine). All of them may sound like fine choices to some, but what if you're a BLT purist? You believe that the only things on a BLT should be bacon, lettuce, and tomato (and if you're feeling wild, some mayo to go with it). You don't want any beef patties or fried chicken fillets in the way — you want a classic, no-fuss, original BLT.
Fortunately for you, Wendy's offers a classic BLT. The only catch? You must know how to order it.
You have to order a burger without the beef
According to Totally the Bomb, you can't just walk up to the counter at Wendy's and ask for a BLT and some fries. The most you'll get is a confused response from an exhausted employee halfway through the afternoon lunch rush. What you need to do is instead ask for a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger but without the burger patty itself. For a company that revolved around "Where's the Beef?" for the longest time, you're going to have to refuse the beef in question. You'll get a bacon cheeseburger without the beef patty, leaving you with the bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. If you don't want cheese on your BLT, just ask for no cheese on the burger as well.
If you're not a fan of Wendy's and still want a BLT from a fast-food restaurant, you could try a similar trick at other locations such as Arby's. Arby's did have their "Ultimate BLT" for a limited time in 2012 (via Food Beast), but you can still get it from the secret menu. According to Hack the Menu, all you need to do is simply ask the employees to prepare a BLT for you.
It's important to note that not every location, Wendy's or Arby's, may be willing to prepare a BLT for you. It can depend on a variety of factors like location or the kind of employee you get. You just have to try your luck and see what happens.
