Gather the ingredients for easy beef tips
The first thing you need to do is gather the ingredients. Pick up olive oil, beef sirloin tips, flour, red wine, butter, beef broth, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and corn starch. You'll also be using cold water while making the sauce.
Once you have all of the items ready to go, you can make these easy beef tips.
Heat the olive oil and add the beef tips
Grab a large pot and place it on your stove. Crank up the heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons olive oil. Next, toss in the beef tips. Sprinkle a little bit of flour over the beef and stir to combine well.
Brown the beef and add the wine
Brown each side of the beef for about a minute before removing it from the pot. Set the meat aside for the time being since you won't need it quite yet.
Now, add the red wine to the pot and deglaze. "The special ingredient is the red wine. It helps tenderize the beef tips and also adds a delicious flavor to the sauce," Musgrave shares, adding that any "dry red" is acceptable to use.
Loosen up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan and cook until the wine reduces by half.
Make the red wine sauce
Once the wine has reduced, add 2 tablespoons butter, 2 cups beef broth, a teaspoon garlic powder, a teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce to the pot. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
Thicken the sauce and add the beef
In a small bowl, add the cold water and corn starch. Whisk until combined, then add the corn starch mixture to the sauce. Stir the corn starch into the sauce until they're well-combined.
Reduce the heat to low, then add the beef tips to the pot. Simmer for about 10 minutes, until the beef is cooked through.
Serve and enjoy
After you remove the beef from the pot, you can serve and enjoy. These beef tips are great on their own, but Musgrave also suggests a few things to jazz it up a bit. "I suggest serving these with mashed potatoes or buttered egg noodles," Musgrave shares.
If you happen to have anything left over, be sure to keep and store. "Leftovers will keep for 3-4 days in a refrigerated, airtight container," Musgrave says.
