Waffle Crisp Fans Will Love Kashi's Newest Cereal Flavor

If you've got a bit of a sweet tooth, then you can probably agree that sitting down to a breakfast of light, crispy waffles loaded with gooey maple syrup, rich butter, and maybe even sweet fruit topping sounds like a decadent and delicious way to start your day. But if you don't necessarily want to kick your mornings off with all the simple carbs and sugary syrup that comes with a plate of waffles, then Kashi might just have the perfect product for you. The popular cereal brand beloved by Carrie Underwood has announced it will be launching a new Maple Waffle Crisp Cereal, which blends the sweet taste of waffles with plant-based ingredients, whole grains, and fiber.

These mini waffle crisps deliver a subtly sweet, cinnamony flavor in a crispy, bite-sized waffle shape. But while they might taste like a syrupy treat, a bowl of these crisps pack 22 grams of whole grains, four grams of fiber, and just 140 calories into each serving, according to Kashi.

Kashi's new Maple Waffle Crisp Cereal is made with chickpeas and whole wheat flour

Kashi developed this new Maple Waffle Crisp Cereal with a goal to deliver "better, wholesome ingredients, light and crispy texture, and warm familiar flavors to fuel you in the morning or during the day," according to a press release sent to Mashed. Each bowl is made with chickpeas, whole wheat and whole oat flour, and flavored with cane sugar, cinnamon, and maple syrup, according to Kashi.

Chickpeas are a great source of protein and fiber, and have been shown to help regulate appetite, improve digestion, and even promote healthy blood sugar levels (via Healthline). Not to be confused with whole grains, whole wheat also contains fiber as well as many healthy antioxidants and minerals that can help lower cholesterol, regulate blood sugar, and even help protect against certain diseases, according to Web MD. So this Maple Waffle Crisp Cereal could be a healthier, more filling way for waffle fans to enjoy the flavors of their favorite breakfast.

Kashi's new offering can be found in the cereal aisles at participating retailers nationwide, including Kroger, Albertsons/Safeway, Walmart, Ahold, and Publix, in 9.5-ounce boxes, according to Chew Boom.
