National Chili Day 2022: Where To Get The Best Food Freebies And Deals
Even though February is a short month, it's packed with food holidays. National Today lists at least one holiday for every day in February, including National Pizza Day on Feb. 9, National Margarita Day on Feb. 22, and National Chili Day on Feb. 24. As the blogger behind a similar food holiday aggregator, Foodimentary, admitted to the San Antonio Current, many of these holidays are made up — but that doesn't mean they're not fun to celebrate. National Chili Day, in particular, creates an opportunity to bring friends and family together over the comforting dish (and probably argue about whether or not the chili should have beans in it).
It's best not to start the beans argument with someone from Texas because they have the International Chili Society backing them up. "Beans don't come into play at the cook off because if our judges are trying to determine a taste, beans are a dominant flavor, and we wouldn't get the pure chili taste," Carol Hancock, President and CEO of the ICS, told Texas Living. If you're a chili purist, you're in luck; the discounted dishes and deals we've rounded up for National Chili Day (with the exception of Bush's) don't include beans, but there's always an option to add them in.

Skyline Chili is giving away chili swag boxes
Skyline Chili is a Cincinnati institution. While the presentation isn't as elegant as some people might like, the over-the-top amount of cheese and chili on every dish piques many people's curiosity. According to Food & Wine, while there is the option to order a plain bowl of chili at Skyline, many people opt for a "cheese coney" or enjoy the chili over spaghetti, often with a mound of cheddar cheese on top.
Those who haven't yet made it to this infamous comfort-food hangout yet can get a taste of Skyline at home with its National Chili Day Sweepstakes. The sweepstakes includes a first, second, and third place prize, which 10, 50, and 100 people will win, respectively. The grand prize includes a $100 Skyline gift card, two T-shirts, a tumbler, two chili pouches, and a bottle of Skyline hot sauce. To enter to win, fill out the form on the Skyline Chili website by midnight on Feb. 24.
Someburros is wrapping chili in tortilla blankets
For on-the-go chili fans, Arizona-based Someburros is offering $4 green or red chili beef burros on Feb. 24 at all of its locations, per a tweet from the restaurant chain. The owners of Someburros, the Vasquez family, are known for their Sonoran-style Mexican food. And to the delight of the chili rebels out there, there's an option to add beans to your burro.
Bush's wants you to share a bowl of chili with Brian Baumgartner
The bean haters will scroll right past this section, but you have to admit that Brian Baumgarter's chili scene from "The Office” is iconic (via YouTube). The past few years have been one big chili spill, so we definitely feel Kevin Malone's pain. Knowing the widespread popularity of this scene, Bush's teamed up with Baumgarter — who's the-most requested celebrity on Cameo, per a Bush's press release — to offer 10 fans the chance to hop on a 1:1 call with the "Office" star to enjoy a "bowl of red" and possibly learn the secrets behind his chili recipe. The sweepstakes began on Feb. 9, and participants could enter on Bush's social channels. The sweepstakes are now over, and Bush's will be announcing the 10 winners on its social channels on Feb. 24.
