Mountain Dew Wants To Pay You $5,000 To Be Outdoors. Here's How To Enter
The ubiquitous citrus-flavored soda Mountain Dew, best known for its famed radioactive green hue, is offering the opportunity of a lifetime to one Dew-fueled nature enthusiast as part of the brand's latest initiative.
In a press release, the company shared plans for the opening of a brand new MTN DEW Outpost, an outdoor center that will be situated on 8,600 acres of wilderness on Doe Mountain in Mountain City, Tennessee. The location of the outpost is a nod to the origins of the soda, which was created in the state's Smoky Mountains sometime around the 1940s, per WBIR.
In addition to the Outpost, which will feature a mountain-side viewing platform, Mountain Dew will also be funding various initiatives on Doe Mountain, including the expansion of new trails on 3,000 acres of unexplored land and the funding of a new archery course. The Outpost itself will serve "as a symbol of the long-term commitment Mountain Dew makes to help nature lovers access more of the great outdoors," the brand shared in the release.
"Our fans are exploring the outdoors now more than ever; it's the perfect time to return to Tennessee, and give back to the community," said Pat O'Toole, Mountain Dew's Vice President of Marketing. "While Mountain Dew will pay homage to its name and roots at Doe Mountain, we aspire to leave a positive impact ... and [fuel] outdoor enthusiasts' passions."
To oversee the brand's Outpost, the company also announced that it will be giving one lucky outdoor enthusiast the opportunity to come aboard as the first-ever Mountain Dew Outpost Ranger, according to Pepsi Promos, and take home a serious paycheck in the process.
The soda brand's Outpost Ranger job comes with a variety of perks
Mountain Dew took to Twitter to make the announcement, writing, "We want to pay you $5,000 to be the MTN DEW Outpost Ranger and live out an outdoor-lover's dream job for one week at Doe Mountain." In addition to the cash, the Ranger will also receive an one-week, all-expenses paid trip to the Outpost — including accommodations in a "tricked out" RV and a custom Mountain Dew Ranger uniform, as well as a new Polaris Ranger XP 1000 Premium ATV to take home — plus, a slew of special Mountain Dew products throughout the year.
Over the weeklong experience, the Outpost Ranger will be tasked with managing the spot, including leading group hikes, heading up an ATV scavenger hunt, and supervising a slate of outdoor activities. Fans can enter to win the role via the Pepsi Promos site now through January 14, 2022. Hopeful winners must answer three questions to prove they have what it takes to be a park ranger, describing their passion for the outdoors, their outdoor experience and hobbies, and their ideal day on a mountain.
Entrants in the contest — which is open to U.S. residents who are over the age of 21 — must have an Instagram account, be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, be available for a six-night trip in May 2022, and have a serious passion for the outdoors, to be eligible to win the mountain adventure of a lifetime.
