McDonald's Mariah Carey Menu Is Coming - And There's Merch, Too
Since the release of her holiday hit, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" in 1994, pop diva Mariah Carey has become the de facto queen of Christmas, according to Billboard, which ranked the song number one on its all-time list of seasonal songs. In a nod to her reign over all things Christmas, McDonald's tapped the singer to create a most festive holiday offering. Earlier this fall, the fast food giant announced its collaboration with the iconic songstress, introducing the forthcoming Mariah Menu to the world.
The burger juggernaut has previously tapped celebrities like rapper Travis Scott, K-Pop superstars BTS, J. Balvin, and Saweetie, to create their own customized McDonald's meals for hungry fans. However, Carey's menu — which will make its official debut on December 13th — stands apart from the chain's past celebrity collaborations. Rather than sticking to one meal or menu item during her reign, the pop legend has a list of 12 items to be spread across the 12 days before Christmas. And each day's special item will be free.
McDonald's customers will be able to score the free Mariah Menu item of the day by placing an order worth at least $1 on the McDonald's app (via PR Newswire). Some of the potential freebies include a Big Mac, Apple Pie, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and a Double Cheeseburger. But there's more
McDonald's has Mariah Menu merch
In the past, Mariah Carey has made forays into the culinary world with a cookie company and Irish cream brand. But she seems to have a special connection to McDonald's. "Some of my favorite memories with my kids are our family trips to McDonald's, and of course, each of us has our go-to order. Mine is the Cheeseburger, and I get it with extra pickles," Carey said of the collaboration (via the McDonald's website). "Bringing together some of our favorite food from McDonald's with my all-time favorite season is a holiday wish come true."
In addition to the freebies, fans will also be able to snag limited-edition Mariah Menu merch. In a press release (via PR Newswire), McDonald's revealed the specialty garments, which include a t-shirt featuring a picture of Carey eating her favorite McDonald's meal, complete with her signature, a kiss imprint, and french fry doodles. There's also a black beanie featuring the songstress' signature in gold.
Like the other Mariah Menu items, there's a way to get the merchandise for free. The first 10,000 customers who order the daily Mariah Menu item with a minimum $1 purchase on December 15th (for the beanie) and 21st (for the t-shirt) will have the chance to snag one of the free specialty merch items. In the lead-up to the menu's debut, Carey is also starring in a festive McDonald's commercial in a bid to whet fans' appetites for freebies.
