These Are Baskin-Robbins' Top Selling Flavors
Over the last 71 years, Baskin-Robbins has racked up an impressive catalog of ice cream flavors and enough interesting facts to fill an encyclopedia. For example, did you know that the store's name, "Baskin-Robbins," is a combination of the two founders' last names, who also happen to be brothers-in-law (via Baskin-Robbins)? Additionally, the ice cream parlor was once a workplace to celebrities like chef and TV personality Bobby Flay, legendary actress Julia Roberts, Rosie O'Donnell, Randy Quaid, and Phil Hughes, who is currently the pitcher on the San Diego Padres, per MLB.com. Not to mention, former president Barack Obama used to sport the blue and pink uniform back in the day, too.
It gets cooler. Thanks to its brilliant 31 flavors concept, Baskin-Robbins is also a Guinness World Record holder. Yep, you read that right. Look up "largest cup of ice cream" in the Guinness World Record book and you'll find a picture of the largest scoop of vanilla ice cream, weighing approximately 8,865 pounds. The company clinched the title back in 2005, per the World Record Academy, the same year as its 60th birthday. Suffice to say, Baskin-Robbins is not boring in the slightest, and if you still don't believe us, just take a look at the 1,300+ unique ice cream flavors they've created. Can you guess the company's best-selling flavors?
Vanilla and chocolate are top five, but this is No. 1
Baskin-Robbins is known for thinking outside of the box when it comes to inventing new ice cream flavors, Quarterback Crunch, anyone? However, according to Baskin-Robbins, their five top-selling flavors include both traditional and mainstream flavors. They are: Vanilla, Chocolate, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip, and Pralines 'n Cream.
Another fun fact for you: Pralines 'n Cream trumps Vanilla in sales internationally. Let's be real; who's surprised? It would be a bit embarrassing if Baskin-Robbins was globally considered the parlor with the best vanilla ice cream when they've worked their entire existence to be known as the king of exotic ice cream flavors. Though, it's no wonder why the signature chocolate is a hit among customers, it's made from an exclusive Baskin-Robbins blend of three cocoas.
Meanwhile, dubbed a "South in your mouth" kind of party, Pralines 'n Cream was invented in 1970 by none other than co-founder Irv Robbins with the help of his wife, Irma. After vacationing in New Orleans, the two were hit with inspiration and created a vanilla ice cream packed with real sweet praline-coated pecan pieces and rich caramel right there in their home kitchen (via Baskin-Robbins). It's become such a success that it's been reimagined over the years, like when the company rolled out Upside Down Pralines as June 2019's flavor of the month (via The Impulsive Buy). This featured a chocolate-based ice cream flavor instead.
