Fans Of Carnitas Should Know About Baja Fresh's New Limited-Time Items
Even if you've never tasted carnitas in your life, now might be a good time to try if you like a little spicy meat and happen to have a Baja Fresh in your area. As fans may already know, the term "carnitas" literally translates to "little meats" in Spanish (via Allrecipes). Often made from such pork cuts as Boston butt, it's braised or simmered and then shredded and roasted. The seasoning incorporates delicious and aromatic Mexican spices such as cumin, garlic, onion, chili powders, and lime juice.
Are you in love with carnitas yet? Because Baja Fresh fans can "live fresh" with a new set of menu options for carnitas lovers. These new items will join the Mexican fast food chain's current protein options, which include savory pork carnitas, tender steak, and wild-caught wahoo (via the Baja Fresh website), adding some new flavors to spice up your holiday season. As reported in a press release, Baja Fresh will begin offering an Achiote Carnitas Bowl and a Fiery West Style Carnitas Burrito on November 1 (via PR Newswire).
A little meat with a lot of flavor
The Achiote Carnitas Bowl consists of your choice of black or pinto beans with achiote grilled carnitas, add pickled onions, regular onions, and poblano peppers. The oppings also include favorites like guac and sour cream (via PR Newswire). The Fiery West Style Carnitas Burrito is packed with melted jack cheese, pinto beans, pork carnitas. These ingredients get an added kick from salsa chile de arbol. Cilantro and avocado bring out the green.
Aubrey Caruth, senior director of marketing at Kahala Brands, the parent company of Baja Fresh, shared that there is more to enjoy with these new menu items. "Guests can choose between an achiote carnitas bowl or a fiery carnitas burrito. They can also 'Make It a Meal' by adding a regular-sized drink and pronto queso or pronto guacamole to any entree," said Caruth. Participating locations will offer these new carnitas-themed options until January 2022 at participating restaurants.
