Educators Need To Know About McDonald's Breakfast Freebie
From restaurant staffers to health care workers, COVID-19 has been a challenging time for many in various fields. One sector that has been particularly hard hit is the education industry. With the 2021-2022 academic school year swinging into high gear, COVID-19 continues to pose challenges for teachers, especially with a new spike in cases. They have needed to adjust to wildly different education styles and pivot between remote, blended, or in-person teaching models – sometimes overnight (via Star Tribune). And let's not forget that they may nr dealing with their own emotional exhaustion and safety concerns (via NPR).
Describing all the adjustments educators have had to make on the fly, high school English teacher Heidi Crumrine said, "It feels like we're building the plane while we're flying it." Understandably, people who appreciate the grace and grit it must take for teachers to cope with all the obstacles might want to show thanks, whether through cards or other small tokens of appreciation. One company that has joined the teacher appreciation club is McDonald's. Back in August, it thanked teachers in the San Antonio, Texas, area by treating them to a free breakfast. Now, the fast food giant is showing love to teachers across America by offering another breakfast freebie.
McDonald's is treating educators to breakfast
According to PR Newswire, from Oct. 11-15, McDonald's will be offering free breakfast Thank You meals to all educators, including not only teachers but administrators and school staff. The limited-time Thank You meals will consist of a breakfast sandwich, Hash Browns, and a beverage. Educators who present a work ID at a participating location can choose between an Egg McMuffin, a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit, or a Sausage Biscuit for their entree, and select either a medium McCafe coffee or a medium soft drink for their beverage. Additionally, the chan is encouraging other customers to show gratitude to educators through messages on social media with the hashtag #ThankYouMeal or by downloading an e-card.
"Together with our Owner/Operators, we're proud to serve the people who make our communities a better place, and this is an important time to say thank you to some of our everyday heroes," said Joe Erlinger, the President of McDonald's USA in a press release (via PR Newswire). "We were honored to give away 12 million free Thank You Meals to first responders and healthcare workers last year and now, with educators going above and beyond, we're excited to recognize them in a way only McDonald's can."
Thank You meals will be available during breakfast hours over the course of this five-day giveaway. Teachers, if you happen to love McDonald's, treat yourself to a free breakfast if you can – you more than deserve it.
