The Squash Soup Addition Alex Guarnaschelli Calls 'Brilliant'
Celebrity chef Alex Guarnaschelli is a fan of simplicity. Per Insider, the chef likes her recipes to be filled with simple ingredients. She also likes to use devices like the slow cooker when she doesn't have a lot of time to spare and wants to prepare a dish that requires very little prepping.
Some of her tips are actually quite surprising, but effective. Take chicken soup, for example. She told People, "I know that a lot of chicken soups have endearingly overcooked chicken that hearkens back to childhood." However, Guarnaschelli prefers to use chicken that's tender. Guarnaschelli insists that this is a game-changer. She explained that, with this hack, you will get to witness "a side of chicken you otherwise miss when roasting or grilling." The best part? If you make extra soup, you can store it in the fridge — and it's guaranteed to taste even more delicious the next day.
The chef really takes soup seriously. She recently commented on a soup recipe on Twitter and was impressed with the way it was tweaked.
Alex Guarnaschelli reckons that the hack is really smart
Food blogger Gena Bell shared a Roasted Butternut Squash & Parsnip soup recipe with her followers on Twitter — something that caught Alex Guarnaschelli's attention. The chef was so pleased with it that she made a point to comment on it. Guarnaschelli wrote, "Love the addition of the starchy, grassy parsnip with squash. Brilliant."
Bell was, of course, overjoyed at the response and told Guarnaschelli that she has always looked up to her. In her soup recipe, Bell explains that parsnips work really well with roasted butternut squash (via Gena Bell). It helps that parsnips don't have a particularly strong flavor, but are able to stand out in the dish when they are roasted. Bell writes, "I love the combination of two together, especially because the deep roasted flavor of both vegetables gives this soup a smoky flavor, while maintaining a sweet and savory balance."
