The Secret Ingredient Eitan Bernath Uses To Make Even Better S'mores - Exclusive
Eitan Bernath has a thing for s'mores. He loves s'mores so much that he taught YouTube how to make Belgian s'mores waffles. You're missing out if you haven't seen him deep fry s'mores, an experiment which he described to his YouTube audience as "heavenly." On TikTok, he made s'mores with homemade marshmallows and a blow torch for his 1.9 million followers — presumably because TikTok requires such antics. On Instagram, he advertises a s'mores pizza. On Facebook, you can learn how to make his s'mores-stuffed cookies, and if that sounds like a stunt that Guy Fieri might pull off, well, Bernath is a mega-fan of the Mayor of Flavortown.
Naturally, when we sat down for an exclusive interview with the Eitan Bernath, we had to ask him the key to perfecting the campfire favorite. "I think the secret is making sure you toast your marshmallow enough," Bernath reflected. "A lot of times people will put it on too high heat and then the outside of crisp, but the inside still kind of not warmed yet. And then, it doesn't come off the skewer." It's solid advice, to be sure. But Bernath's real wisdom lies in his secret s'mores ingredient.

Giada De Laurentiis might have tempted the world with her frozen s'mores — that would be graham crackers stuffed with marshmallow chocolate chip and vanilla ice cream filling, which you can learn to make on Giadzy — but Eitan Bernath has De Laurentiis (in our humble opinion, at least) one-upped. Instead of chocolate on his s'mores, "The Drew Barrymore Show" culinary consultant revealed that he adds Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Yup, just like Bernath makes his own marshmallows, he makes his own Reese's, too. The self-taught chef blends graham crackers, peanut butter, and powdered sugar to create the creamy insides of the chocolatey treat. Check out his Instagram if you don't believe us.
What's so good about Reese's in s'mores? Bernath explains that on his website. "The addition of salty, savory peanut butter is heavenly in addition to the classic s'mores ingredients," the TikTok phenomenon writes in a prelude to his peanut butter s'mores pie recipe. There's something else about s'mores that Bernath wants you to know. You should never feel limited by your environment. No campfire? No problem. "You don't have to have an open fire, you can even air fry s'mores," he assured us. "I have done it before, [it's] very fun."
You can find many ideations of Bernath's love for s'mores on his TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube channels. Also, check out Bernath's social media for new recipes developed in partnership with the Ninja Foodi XL Pressure Cooker Steam Fryer with SmartLid.
