This dish would be great to serve to the family for a weeknight dinner, or it would be perfect for a meal to wow guests you have over to your house. Keep reading to find out how to make this incredible Thai recipe that tastes just as amazing as it looks.
Gather the ingredients
The first step is to gather all of the necessary items to throw this dish together. You will need a few shallots and green onions to start. In addition, put red chilies and Thai basil leaves on your list. You will also need green beans, sesame oil, and pork mince, otherwise known as ground pork. The rest of the items are seasonings or sauces, and you may already have them at home if you cook regularly. One of them is salt, and the others are soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, coconut sugar, and garlic ginger paste.
Now, let's get this recipe started!
Dice the veggies
Take out a cutting board and a knife with a good blade. Now, it's time to get to chopping and dicing. First, put the shallots on the cutting board and dice them Next, add the green onions and chop them into small pieces, and then set aside for later. Olayinka suggests cutting them "as thinly as possible!" She says, "To do this, I use a sharp knife." At this time, you can also get to dicing the red chilies.
Then, pick the Thai basil leaves off of the stem and set them aside. The last veggie you need to slice is the green beans. Make sure to cut them into half-inch pieces, and then set them aside for later use.
Heat the oil and sauté the veggies
Take out a saucepan and put it over your stove. Dump in the sesame oil first, and then kick the heat up to medium-high.
As the oil starts to sizzle, you can add the chopped shallots, chopped green onion, and chopped red chilies. After the veggies have been sauteed for three minutes, toss the ground pork and salt inside the saucepan with the other veggies. Then, cook everything together for an additional five minutes.
Add the remaining ingredients
Once the pork is fully cooked, add the green beans. After that, you can put in the remaining seasonings, including the soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, coconut sugar, ginger, and garlic paste. Mix everything so that it's well coated and each piece of pork and the veggies are covered in sauce. Cook everything together for another three minutes to let those flavors meld together.
Finally, you can add in the last item left: the basil leaves. Stir the mixture together so there's a little basil in each bite, and then your dish is good to go. Your kitchen should also be smelling pretty amazing by now.
Serving suggestions and leftovers
You can use a plate to enjoy this dish, or you can use bowls. It's totally up to you how you want to serve this yummy recipe to your guests. Olayinka says that she loves to serve this with either rice or noodles, making it a super filling main course. We think that it would also be great with some grilled veggies.
