MOD Pizza Fans Won't Want To Miss This BOGO Plant-Based Pizza Deal
MOD Pizza, per its website, believes in "putting people first." That philosophy is at the heart of this fast-casual pizza brand. That's why it recently announced via a press release issued through Business Wire that it can see the many people who have embraced a plant-based diet and now has a pizza to fit that preference. Beginning Tuesday, August 31st, plant-based pizza lovers can enjoy their new plant-based Italian sausage that will be in all 500 plus MOD Pizza locations.
Per the Recipe Guru, a survey conducted in 2019 by the Vegetarian Resource Group found that just 2% of Americans described themselves as vegans. However, as reported by Super Market Perimeter, that same year, IRI said that plant-based foods could be found in that 53% of U.S. households, and it expected that number to rise. So MOD Pizza appears to be keeping up with the times.
The MOD Pizza press release shared that its new plant-based Italian sausage is made from non-GMO pea protein. And customers expect this ingredient to be on the menu indefinitely. MOD Pizza lovers will be able to add this new topping to any pizza or salad in addition to any combination of toppings. Not to mention, regardless of topping combinations, the price will be the same. What do we know about this new plant-based Italian sausage?
The 1-day BOGO deal
According to the press release (via Business Wire), MOD Pizza's new plant-based Italian sausage was engineered by Plantly which is a chef-created, plant-based food and beverage brand. The Italian sausage is described as "a classic spiced Italian-style crumble made with only real, high-quality ingredients including U.S. grown non-GMO pea protein, filtered water, expeller-pressed canola oil, and seasoned with fennel, oregano, and thyme." Vegan and gluten-free, the pizza also boasts 12 grams of protein per serving and is free of artificial ingredients.
Mark Shambura, Chief Marketing Officer for the quick-service pizza chain said, "We've spent the past two years methodically testing plant-based proteins and simply put, we found Plantly's Italian plant-based sausage to be completely craveable and far superior in both taste and quality." Shambura went on to express excitement about giving customers a new topping option that wasn't just "delicious but an easy swap or add, if they want to go meatless or simply have more flexible choices."
But the best part of this new topping is on August 31st only, when its hits MOD Pizza restaurants, the chain is even offering a plant-based version of the BOGO (Buy One, Get One) offer that it has dubbed the "POGO" ("Plant One, Get One") deal. How does it work? One person orders a meatless pizza with the plant-based Italian sausage, and the second pizza is free. It's that simple. Yum!
