The Dangerous Items One Domino's Customer Found On Their Pizza
Imagine you pick up your usual order from the local Domino's, excited to dig into a pizza with all your favorite toppings. You return home, serve a few slices on a plate, and begin to savor the crispy, cheesy goodness you've been craving all day. It's so delicious you're lost in the flavor for a few bites. Satisfied, you breathe a sigh of relief. And then you notice something off about the pizza.
Amongst the toppings cooked into the gooey cheese is something that you did not order, that not only doesn't belong on pizza, but could be dangerous or a choking hazard if you unwittingly swallowed it.
This is exactly what happened to Gemma Barton at her local Domino's in Lancashire, England (via Daily Mail). While she was halfway through her meal, she noticed some unwelcome and potentially dangerous additions baked into her pizza. Understandably, she was very upset.
The nuts and bolts of the Domino's conundrum
Gemma Barton discovered that in addition to her normal cheese and toppings, there were metal nuts and bolts baked into the pizza. She returned to Domino's and was given a refund, but later posted her story to social media with pictures of the fasteners on her pizza and tagged local news outlets and public safety agencies.
"PLEASE PLEASE double check your pizzas before eating I'd hate if I or anyone ingested these!!" Barton posted, according to the Mirror. "Serious choking hazard and health and safety issue ... I'd hate if this was a more serious matter for someone else."
Domino's has responded with an apology and claims to have worked with the store where the incident occurred to prevent future issues. "At Domino's, we take customer satisfaction and safety extremely seriously – contamination of this nature is extremely rare ... We have reminded our store team of the correct process to avoid any future issues of this nature," the pizza chain said in their official statement.
