9 Fanta Flavors, Ranked Worst To Best
There are so many different soda brands on the market to choose from, from big-name brands to good and less good store brand sodas. But if you want a large selection of flavors, there's one particular brand that may come to mind: Fanta. The brand might be most well-known for its orange soda, but it doesn't stop there — there are a full nine flavors to choose from. Can you even think of nine soda flavors off the top of your head? Probably not. And that's because Fanta is making some unconventional soda you've likely never tried from any other brand.
So, when you go down the soda aisle and are taking a look at your options, you might be a little overwhelmed once you get to the Fanta section. But never fear — we're here to help. We've ranked all the different flavors of Fanta you can get from worst to best. That way, you don't have to do all the hard work on your own. Keep reading to find out where your favorite Fanta flavor ranks, and don't be afraid to try something new. You never know when you're going to find a new favorite!
9. Peach
Real peaches are some of the most delicious fruits on the planet. They're juicy with that wonderful fuzzy skin, and when they're really ripe, the juice from them drips down your arm when you take a bite. Sounds heavenly, right? So you'd probably assume that the peach-flavored Fanta would be one of the best of the bunch. Once you take a single sip, though, you'll realize that you should stay away from this stuff at all costs.
There's probably nothing that tastes less like peach than this peach soda. Though the label claims to contain "100% natural flavor" (whatever that means), it certainly doesn't taste like it. Instead, you'll get a taste of artificial peach in the back of your mouth. The sweetness in this drink is through the roof as well. We know that's expected from a soda, but there's nothing in this drink to cut the sweetness at all.
It's great that Fanta wanted to expand its offerings to include a peach-flavored drink, but we just want to pour this stuff down the sink.
8. Berry
When was the last time that you took a huge swig of berry soda? Maybe never, because berry soda isn't something you'll come across every day. Perhaps that's because it just doesn't taste good — and Fanta Berry is no exception.
First of all, we have to start out with the color here. This soda is a shocking blue color, which already makes it super unappetizing. Fanta's orange soda also looks like it contains artificial colors, but at least there are actually orange foods out there to compare it to. On the other hand, there aren't many naturally colored blue foods out there in the world. That's partially why this stuff will turn you off immediately ... it just doesn't look like something you should actually drink.
And then there's the flavor. It's better than the peach flavor, for sure, but that doesn't mean much. It doesn't really taste like any berry specifically. Rather, it just has a nondescript fruity flavor. Most of all, it's just boring and bland.
You might drink this stuff if you didn't have any other options, but we don't know why you would go out of your way to buy a case of it.
7. Fruit Punch
When you think of fruit punch, a fizzy drink probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind. But Fanta's trying to change that with its fruit-punch flavored soda. It's seriously a good idea, which is why it didn't end up further down this list. But when it comes to the actual execution, this drink could be way, way better.
Let's start with the color again. Fanta is all about the bright colors, sure, but when they extend that into the actual color of their drinks, it can be a turn-off. In this case, Fanta Fruit Punch is a sickly pink color — it almost looks like you're drinking translucent Pepto-Bismol. Not exactly what we would describe as appealing.
When it comes to the flavor, this drink actually isn't too bad. It's not overly sweet, and it's not really offensive in any way. However, that doesn't mean it's necessarily good. It just tastes like any other red drink you've ever had in your entire life. Fanta could have done something interesting to take this beverage to the next level, but they missed out on the opportunity. That being said, if you don't like strongly flavored sodas, you might find the fruit punch appealing. Give it a try!
6. Zero Sugar Orange
Generally, we don't like zero-sugar sodas, so it's a surprise that the Fanta Zero Sugar Orange didn't end up in last place. That's probably because the plain orange soda tastes so good as it is, it's hard to mess up a copy of it. Still, don't expect something that's as good as the full-sugar version. There's a slightly more artificial taste to this soda, which could be due in part to the aspartame that replaces the sugar in the recipe.
Not only is there that artificial taste, it's also blander than the original. Fanta Orange is pretty strongly flavored, so it's not the end of the world if that taste is watered down a bit. In fact, you may not even notice the difference right away if you take a sip of this stuff on its own. But when you try it side by side with the original, you'll see that there's a significant difference.
Overall, this version of Fanta Orange is definitely not as good as the original, but it's not terrible if you're left with no other options.
5. Pineapple
When was the last time you took a big gulp of pineapple soda? If you're like most of us, maybe never in your whole life. That's why you may be excited to check out Fanta Pineapple. This bright yellow drink features notes of the tropical fruit (even if it doesn't really taste like the real thing). It's surprisingly refreshing, and you might just discover that this is one of your new favorite Fanta drinks.
That being said, Fanta Pineapple doesn't taste that pineapple-y. There's definitely a tropical-tasting flavor there, but the drink's not nearly sweet enough to truly resemble pineapple in all of its glory. Though too-sweet sodas aren't our favorite thing in the world, this one could use some added oomph. This beverage ends up solidly in the middle of the list because, overall, it's a solid drink; however, we wouldn't choose it over our favorite flavors from different brands.
Take it or leave it, but keep in mind that there are better Fanta flavors to try.
4. Piña Colada
If you like the flavor of Fanta Pineapple but want something that has a bit of a twist to it, you might be interested in the piña colada flavor. A piña colada is a chilled cocktail that contains pineapple and coconut together. The result is a deliciously satisfying drink that's perfect to sip on while you're lounging under the palm trees on a hot day. And Fanta's Piña Colada tries to capture that same essence in this fizzy drink.
Does this soda really taste like a piña colada? Well, no, not exactly. If you're looking for the real thing, you're not going to find it here. And no, we're not just talking about the fact that this Fanta flavor is lacking alcohol — it's also about the flavor. The coconut doesn't come through that strongly, so you might miss out on the fact that it's there at all.
However, that doesn't mean that this soda doesn't taste good. The mild pineapple flavor mixed with the subtle coconut taste results in a drink that's surprisingly subtle for a flavored soda. The flavor is out of the ordinary, so it's a great option if you're looking for something you can't find from any other brand.
3. Strawberry
Like pineapple, strawberry isn't an exceedingly popular flavor when it comes to soda. But when you get a taste of Fanta Strawberry, you might start to wonder why. While this drink may not sound appetizing at first, it's actually surprisingly delicious. This soda is on the sweeter side, which we usually don't like. But in this case, it's not really a bad thing. That's because the strawberry flavoring and that extra sweetness go together so well. Don't assume that the sweetness is overwhelming, though — just think of it as slightly sweeter than the Fanta Orange you're used to.
The only problem with this drink for us is the fact that the color isn't too appetizing. There are lots of brightly colored sodas out there, but you might not see a bright red beverage all that often. We wish they would use less food coloring in these drinks, but considering the hues of the other flavors in the lineup, we can't single out strawberry too much for this offense.
2. Grape
Grape may not be the most popular flavor of soda out there, but if it's been a while since you gave it a try, you may want to try Fanta Grape. This is seriously one of the best grape sodas on the market, and it's our second-favorite Fanta flavor. Does it taste like grape? No. But when you get something grape-flavored, you usually wouldn't expect it to taste like actual grapes. Rather, you'll get the typical artificial grape flavor in this soda — which is actually really tasty. It's got a deep, rich flavor like a cola with just a small touch of fruitiness in the mix to make it more refreshing.
We also like the fact that this soda is super carbonated. There are plenty of bubbles, which makes this drink even more refreshing. If you're on the hunt for a fizzy pick-me-up in the middle of the day but want to avoid the caffeine, Fanta Grape is the way to go.
1. Orange
Last but certainly not least is Fanta Orange – the soda you probably know from the brand. This bright orange concoction is the epitome of orange soda, and we couldn't love it any more. In fact, in our books, it's definitely the best orange soda on the market. It's got a slight citrus-y taste to it, but it's not as pronounced as what you would find in a lemon-lime soda. Instead, it's sweeter and feels a little bit more indulgent. At the same time, it's an amazing beverage to drink on a hot day — it's hard to believe that something with this much sugar in it could actually be refreshing, but it most certainly is.
Is the food coloring in this drink intense? Yes. But there's something so appealing about the bright orange color that we can't even bring ourselves to dislike it.
If you have yet to try Fanta Orange, what are you waiting for? This classic soda is waiting for you to take a sip.
