This TikTok Hack Will Change The Way You Clean Your Oven
TikTok is a gold mine for house cleaning tips and tricks that can make your life a whole lot easier. If you have a cleaning problem, no matter how big it is, chances are that someone somewhere has found a solution for it on TikTok. Need to clean the brown-colored grout between your bathroom tiles? Can't figure out how to get rid of those burnt-on stains on the bottom of pots and pans? Want hotel-style crisp bed sheets at home 24/7? TikTok has a solution for it all (via PopSugar).
So, when it comes to the toughest cleaning job in the kitchen, it's not a surprise that TikTok has already figured out how to tackle it. A few months ago, a professional cleaner from Australia shared the trick for cleaning a grease-stained oven without any chemicals (via Insider). The trick, they say, is to preheat the oven to a little above 150 degrees C, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda all over the oven, and then start scrubbing. Although some say this hack works, the cleaning wizard herself admits that if you leave the baking soda on for too long, you will have some trouble scrubbing it off. So, naturally, someone else on TikTok found an alternative oven cleaning hack.
You only need three ingredients and a sponge to clean your oven
Although it's unclear who came up with this solution, this genius hack only requires three easy-to-find ingredients and a sponge. According to Real Homes, you mix half a cup of regular dish soap, a quarter cup of white vinegar, and one-and-a-half cups of baking soda. Mix it all together until the bubbling stops and you're left with a creamy paste. You should then use a sponge or a rag to spread the paste all over the insides of your oven. Leave it overnight for best results or for a minimum of four hours if you're in a rush. The next day, wipe off the paste with the abrasive side of your sponge. The hack promises that the grease and leftover food bits will come off easily with the paste and you will have yourself a shiny, grime-free oven (via Taste of Home).
Real Homes put this hack to the test to see just how well it works. The site found that cleaning the dried-out paste from the oven was a pretty messy affair. It took them lots of paper towels, clean cloths, and a final spraying of white vinegar to finally get rid of the paste. It could be that the paste was particularly hard to remove because they added water to the dish soap, white vinegar, and baking soda mixture. Regardless, they found that the hack did indeed work. Although the website found that the dried-out paste crumbs got stuck between the oven door and left a bit of a mess on the floor to clean up later, they thought this TikTok hack did make the oven cleaning job a lot easier.
