Twitter Erupts Over Padma Lakshmi's Announcement About Holiday Cooking Special
Padma Lakshmi isn't new to the world of food shows. Although best known for producing and hosting "Top Chef" for more than 15 years, Lakshmi has worked on a ton of other programs including "Padma's Passport" and "Planet Food" and is the author of several bestselling cookbooks (via her official website).
Her latest show "Taste the Nation" aired on Hulu last year. Creator, host, and executive producer of the program, Lakshmi traveled across America in "Taste the Nation" to explore the foods of various immigrant groups in the country that have played a part in shaping American food culture (via Hulu).
The ten-episode season was quite a success and got generally positive responses from critics for its effort to bring immigrant food culture in America to the table. In fact, "Taste the Nation" happens to be one of the few shows to hold a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. So when Hulu released a teaser on Twitter announcing that the show was going to be back on the screens with a holiday special later this year, social media was pretty excited.
Hulu's "Taste the Nation" will be back with a holiday special in November
Padma Lakshmi shared Hulu's teaser with her fans on Twitter, with the streaming network's video announcing the full food-based fall season lineup coming later this year, including three shows — "Baker's Dozen," a new baking competition show hosted by Tamera Mowry & Bill Yosses; "The Next Thing You Eat" hosted by David Chang, and the holiday-themed return of "Taste The Nation" with Padma Lakshmi.
The run of episodes for "Taste The Nation" is set to premiere on Thursday, November 4. ET reports that the holiday edition will have a total of four episodes that will release weekly over the span of a month. During it, Lakshmi will take viewers to four different cities to showcase their holiday traditions and food cultures. Fans can expect an episode on Korean New Year celebrated in Los Angeles and another one featuring Miami's Cuban Christmas.
Fans quickly responded on Twitter, supporting the show and expressing their excitement for the upcoming season. One fan @carlosgomez called it, "One of my favorite TV Shows of 2020. MUST SEE!!! Be prepared to learn and feel..." Others found Padma Lakshmi's announcement to be the perfect excuse to rewatch the first season leading up to the release of Season 2 — and we couldn't agree more.
