The Kitchen Tool Lauren Conrad Hates Using
Reality TV star, fashion designer, and author Lauren Conrad rose to fame after appearing as a primary cast member and love-struck teen on MTV's series "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County," which first aired in 2004, and later in the show's spin-off series, "The Hills," first airing in 2006. Today, Conrad is the owner and founder of her own fashion line, LC Lauren Conrad, with items available at Kohl's; Lauren Conrad Beauty, an eco-friendly skincare and makeup line; and co-founder of The Little Market, a store aimed toward sustainable collaboration with artists and artisans from around the globe (via Lauren Conrad's website).
She is also the author of 10 books, including the "L.A. Candy" series (via HarperCollins). And, as if this wasn't enough talent for one person, Conrad is also an incredible baker, especially known for her specialty apple pie recipe (via Delish). Fans can ooh and ahh over her creations when scrolling through her Instagram.
Apple pies to die for
On September 13, 2014, Conrad married former Something Corporate guitarist William Tell (via E!) and instead of serving a wedding cake, she decided to serve apple pie. "Apple pie is my very favorite dessert to bake and eat, and I just couldn't imagine serving our guests anything else," Conrad said (via People). Conrad enlisted the help of celebrity friends Lauren Lowstan and Hannah Skvarla, who followed Conrad's own recipe to prepare and freeze 50 pies for the wedding guests, which Lowstan, a professional baker, baked on the day of the wedding (via Lauren Conrad's website).
But Conrad's love of baked goods doesn't end with traditional apple pie. Her signature dessert is rosette-style mini apple tarts (also via Delish), which look like delicate little apple-laden flowers of tastiness sprinkled with sugar. They are made from granny smith apples (which Mashed says is the best type of apple for baking pies) and homemade caramel. Conrad layers thinly sliced apples to get the petal-like appearance. Although she says you could use a mandolin to slice the apples, she's quick to point out that she's not a fan of the kitchen tool.
"I had an incident with one recently, and I've been scared to use it since. I typically use a really sharp knife that I only use for slicing citrus or making other delicate cuts," she told Delish. Regardless of how they're made and what kitchen tools are used, Lauren Conrad's apple pies certainly look like heavenly morsels of deliciousness.
