Disneyland Has Good News For Fans Of Its Character Dining Experience
It's no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic hurt the happiest place on Earth. With closures around the globe at various Disney properties that are continuing to see phased reopenings, fans are still itching to get back to the magic (and the yummy food throughout the parks). As parks around the world continue to reopen, guests will see changes to some of the classic experiences they may be used to, among them character cavalcades, virtual queues, and different park dining options. Travelers to Disneyland in California may have noticed one big absence: no character dining experiences. Luckily, they are making their magical return to the Southern Californian park soon.
For those unfamiliar with the unique experience, the Disney Food Blog describes character meals as "dining experiences in which Disney characters meet and greet guests in the restaurant. They generally travel from table to table, stopping to interact with each party for a hug, photo, autograph, or possibly a conversation." This is a joyous experience for children and adults alike, creating magical memories with character favorites.
Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, has been open since July of 2020, and the famous character dining experience returned this past May (with new guidelines, of course). Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, which recently reopened in April of 2021, reopened its gates without the character dining experience. However, fans can look forward to a few select dining experiences to resume before September of this year.
Minnie and Friends Breakfast
Disneyland Resort's Plaza Inn for the Minnie and Friends Breakfast, located on Main Street, U.S.A, will be reopening August 12. Disneyland states that reservations will open soon. Guests love the history of the Plaza Inn, as it's one of the original landmarks in the park when it opened in 1955 and was designed by Walt Disney's wife, Lillian Disney. Although an updated menu has not been released, the restaurant's signature Speciality Chicken dish is sure to be on it.
Mickey's Tales of Adventure Breakfast
Located in Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, starting July 22, patrons can now dine with Mickey and his friends at Mickey's Tales of Adventure Breakfast, located in the Storytellers Café. Characters will make appearances from a distance during a buffet-style breakfast. Indulge in "favorites such as croissants, muffins, Danishes, seasonal sliced fruits, fresh berries, Mickey Waffles, egg white frittatas, chile verde chilaquiles, hand-carved meats" and more.
More Disney reopenings
There has not been information released on the reopening of the Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, nor Goofy's Kitchen at Disneyland Hotel. View all dining options currently available at Disneyland at the Disney Parks Blog.
