Bad News For Fans Of Costco's Organic Peanut Butter
For the last month or so, fans of Costco's Kirkland Signature brand organic peanut butter have been starting to suspect that something was up regarding their peanut butter of choice. "I've been checking every week" wrote Reddit user "V6A6P6E" on the Reddit board devoted to all things Costco (via Reddit). "I normally buy a two pack every other week but it's been gone for a month now." This was in response to a topic started by another Reddit user with the tragic heading, "Say it ain't so! Kirkland peanut butter discontinued!" Apparently, the beloved 28-ounce two packs were completely gone from store shelves when they went looking for it recently. "Don't wait to check," they warned.
Meanwhile, over on Instagram, Insta-user "Costco Organic" had already been sending out smoke signals dating back to July 16, which is when they posted, "I couldn't find the Kirkland Organic PB and I'm worried that's been discontinued?! Has anyone bought it in the last two days?" (via Instagram). Nor is this the first time this has happened in Costco history, according to My Crazy Good Life, which recounted a previous disappearance of Kirkland organic peanut butter from Costco shelves.
So, clearly, something is up with Costco's fan-favorite organic peanut butter. But how bad is the bad news, really?
Your favorite organic peanut butter won't be gone long
When we first started hearing that Costco fans around the country were having trouble locating Kirkland Signature brand organic peanut butter on their local Costco shelves, it had a familiar ring. That's because this has happened before. But in this case, it appears that the disappearance may be only temporary. "The Kirkland Signature Organic Peanut Butter will be back in stock around November or December 2021," a Costco spokesperson has stated, (via Eat This, Not That!).
Phew, right? But in the meantime, what's a Costco organic peanut butter fan supposed to do? Well, Costco has brought in a replacement, Naturally More Organic Peanut Butter, which is pretty much the only alternative currently available at Costco warehouses. That being said, some have been finding Naturally More to be an adequate substitute, including Reddit user, "Robotheist," who wrote, "I got the replacement peanut butter today and tried a spoonful, and maybe it's just because I was starving after work but I thought it tasted even better than the Kirkland and has the same nutritional stats, so win-win."
