The Best Flavor Of White Claw According To 24% Of People
Spiked seltzers have become the unofficial drink of the summer, and none is as ubiquitous as White Claw, one of the originators of the boozy seltzer trend. In fact, in a Mashed ranking of 15 hard seltzer brands, White Claw claimed the number-one spot, solidifying it as the king of this sparkling beverage.
Created in 2016 by Mark Anthony Brands — the same company that produces Mike's Hard Lemonade – White Claw is a bubbly malt beverage comprised of "a blend of seltzer water, its gluten-free alcohol base, and a hint of fruit flavor," according to a brand representative as quoted in VinePair. The carbonated beverage goes through a proprietary fermentation process, during which a specialized yeast is used to ferment the sugar and develop the alcohol.
While the popular seltzer brand originally debuted with four flavors — Natural Lime, Black Cherry, Ruby Grapefruit, and Raspberry — it has since added seven more tasty options to its lineup, including Mango, Watermelon, Pineapple, Blackberry, Strawberry, Tangerine, and Lemon (per the official website). With such a wide variety, opinions on which flavor of White Claw reigns supreme can be divided, as indicated by a recent poll Mashed conducted.
What's the preferred flavor of White Claw?
In a previous Mashed ranking of White Claw's assortment of flavors, the Black Cherry, Tangerine, and Raspberry flavors pulled in the top three spots, while Mango, Strawberry, and Pineapple pulled up the rear as the least tasty options.
However, in an updated Mashed poll asking "What is the best flavor of White Claw hard seltzer?" and offering eight options to choose from, the results show that the American public has a different — and divided — take. In a poll of 589 US-based consumers, the flavors that got the least amount of love were Lemon (8.83%), Ruby Grapefruit (8.49%), and Tangerine which came in dead last at 4.92%.
In the middle range was Lime (9.85%), Watermelon (12.22%), and Raspberry (14.77%). In contrast to the original Mashed rankings, Mango was the second most popular flavor with 16.64% of the vote. Taking in the top spot, and solidifying its reputation as the tastiest White Claw flavor, was Black Cherry with a whopping 24.28% of the vote.
While Black Cherry was the clear winner, the distribution of votes across all of the seltzer flavors shows that opinions on the top Claw are still divided. Our advice? Split a case with someone who has a different favorite than you and everyone will be happy.
