Guy Fieri Wants To Help You Win A Trip To Hawaii. Here's How
According to Food Network, Guy Fieri's Flavortown is "a mythical place, a state of mind, where fun and food meet in perfect harmony." Since becoming the official spokesperson for King's Hawaiian bread, however, Fieri has appointed Flavortown a more finite location, and it's none other than Hawaii.
As announced on Twitter, King's Hawaiian and Guy Fieri will be doling out 100 prizes a week, all summer long, through the Say Aloha Summer Sweepstakes, with the grand prize being a culinary trip to Hawaii, worth up to $15,000.
Once you click through the sweepstakes' official website, you're taken through an interactive augmented reality experience, in which you can explore Flavortown, find exclusive recipes, play games, and watch cooking videos. The more activities you do, the more "flavor points" you're awarded, and the closer you'll get to winning that trip to Hawaii. The sweepstakes ends on Saturday, July 31.
What's even more exciting is that you also get the chance to show off your food creations to Fieri when you participate in the sweepstakes. Fieri explained in his introduction video that he'll be following the #SayAlohaToFlavortown hashtag on social media all throughout the promotion.
Guy Fieri is a big fan of Hawaiian food
Guy Fieri's long-running Food Network show "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" has taken him all over the U.S., yet he always finds himself returning to Hawaii, and considers Maui, Oahu, and Molokai as some of his favorite food spots (via YouTube). "I love bringing Triple D to the islands," he said during one of his visits to Kailua-Kona.
Fieri has featured a whopping 35 restaurants in Hawaii on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives," and it's by no accident (via Whim). Not only does Fieri have a taste for Hawaiian cuisine, but he's also big on supporting local food economies, and always showcases family-owned and operated businesses on his shows.
As family-owned King's Hawaiian explained in a press release, this is precisely why they chose Fieri as their spokesperson. "Guy not only has an eye for great food and a love for sharing it, like King's Hawaiian, he also has a passion for giving back to those in need and embodying the Aloha Spirit, which is consistent with who we are as a company." That includes sharing his love of food through King's Hawaiian, and inviting one lucky winner to experience that food-fueled "Aloha Spirit" right in Hawaii.
