The Hilarious Way Jack In The Box Just Called Out McDonald's Broken Ice Cream Machines On TikTok
It happens so often that it's become a cultural touchstone and the butt of many jokes. Even if you have never tried ordering a McFlurry only to discover that the ice cream machine is indefinitely out of service, it feels like a ubiquitous experience that brings just a little bit of frustration but quite a bit of laughter. The McDonald's ice cream machine is seemingly always on the fritz, in need of repair, or otherwise out of commission almost all the time as far as we're concerned, and a joke about it will always land.
Apparently, the machines might not be broken but disassembled during the labor-intensive cleaning and disinfecting process. When there is an actual mechanical issue, the machine can't be fixed until a repair technician from the manufacturer arrives (via Wired). In any case, there is some truth to McDonald's ice cream machine problem, and its competitors definitely know it.
All in good fun, Jack in the Box just posted a video on its TikTok account, poking fun at the dilemma in the most hilarious way.
Jack in the Box's joke on TikTok
The TikTok video opens in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant, with the camera focused on the building and all the golden arches logos blacked out by the word "censored." Text appears on the screen and is read aloud by TikTok's text-to-speech feature.
"We heard someone's ice cream machine was broken ... can't relate, but good luck," Jack in the Box jokes. A clown emoji and a red heart also appear as a Jack in the Box milkshake is lifted into the screen. As the video looped, you can't help but watch a few more times as the joke sinks in with a chuckle.
According to Newsweek, the Jack in the Box TikTok account also commented on other user's videos that joked about the McDonald's ice cream machines. This definitely seems like a dedicated marketing effort to draw consumers into Jack in the Box for one of its milkshakes, and honestly, it's got us craving.
