The Real Reason Aldi Has So Many Lemon-Flavored Snacks Right Now
Shoppers at low-cost grocery chain Aldi may have noticed an abundance of lemon-flavored snacks at the moment. There's a very good reason for that, and it's all for a good cause. As Aldi explained on its website, for every lemon-themed item with the Alex's Lemonade Stand logo purchased, the grocery store chain will make a donation to families of children diagnosed with cancer, up to $1 million.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) was inspired by Alexandra "Alex" Scott, a Connecticut girl who set up a lemonade stand when she was just 4 years old to raise money to help find a cure for cancer (via ALSF). Alex raised more than $1 million before the disease took her life when she was 8. Her story has inspired countless others, including Aldi, to join the cause by setting up lemonade stands and donating the proceeds to help fight pediatric cancer. Aldi partnered with ALSF in 2019 and has raised more than $3 million to date, according to Aldi's website.
Lemon-themed snacks and products for a good cause
Instagram user @AldiFavoriteFinds posted photos of a special ALSF display from their local Aldi and some of the items available, which included fan-favorite frozen lemonade bars, lemon chocolate truffles, lemon mini bites, and of course, several types of lemonade. Several commenters chimed in with their reviews of different items. "The lemon cakes are soooo good!" wrote one fan. "Bought the truffles and the lemon bites. Truffles were great. The lemon bites were out of this world! Going back to buy more of them to freeze," another remarked.
While lemon-flavored snacks are a tasty way to support this great cause, the ALSF displays also offer items that will let you set up your own lemonade stand to help. A double beverage dispenser is perfect for lemonade, while assorted summer dessert pans, including cookie bowl pans, mini muffin pans, and ice cream sandwich pans, will let you make your own lemon-flavored snacks at home to serve alongside the lemonade.
