Gordon Ramsay's Instagram Post Proves His 2-Year-Old Is His Twin
"Our children are the mirror in which we view ourselves," someone with unhealthy boundaries probably once said. But in the case of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his two-year-old son, Oscar, it might just be true. The tiny tot has already taken Instagram by storm, posting pictures under his own handle, @oscarjramsay (the account is managed by his older sisters, according to the bio). He's also featured heavily on the Instagram account of Tana Ramsay, his mom. It's a recent Instagram photo posted by Gordon Ramsay himself, though, that has once again set the internet abuzz with oohs and ahhs for the chef's micro doppelgänger.
"Happy Monday from this little nugget @oscarjramsay," the caption reads, and next to it a photo of Oscar, a tiny-sized version of his dear old dad. More like a chicken popper than a full nugget, the miniature Ramsay replica sports a shaggy blond bob, a sherpa-lined flannel shirt, and a twinkle in his elf-like eyes that is indeed reminiscent of Ramsay himself. The little chap looks like he might roll up his sleeves and grab a frying pan and pair of kitchen tongs at any moment. This is the same child who recently took a nap with a whisk, after all; an auspicious choice of toy for a budding chef (via Instagram).
Gordon Ramsay's son is a chip off the old block
Two-year-old Oscar isn't the only thing keeping his dad busy these days. In addition to his other children, and managing the pantheon of cooking shows that made him famous (like "MasterChef" and "Hell's Kitchen"), Ramsay's "Uncharted," a National Geographic show, is currently streaming on Disney+ (via People). That last one is a food-meets-travel program, in which Ramsay travels to far-flung spots around the globe and samples the local cuisine. Each episode culminates in Ramsay's attempt to incorporate local ingredients and cultural flavor into a feast meant to represent the experience. When he recently tried (and spat out) fermented shark in Iceland, one couldn't help but wonder if — like every other parent of a toddler — the song "Baby Shark" didn't run through the chef's head, courtesy of his young son's musical influence.
"Uncharted" is in its third season, and Ramsay's other projects show no sign of slowing, with "MasterChef Junior" and "Hell's Kitchen: Young Guns" spinoffs already hugely successful (via Gordon Ramsay), but Ramsay has always talked about the importance of family too.
The Ramsay resemblance is strong
Little Oscar is one of five Ramsay children. Oscar was born in 2019 to join older siblings Matilda (Tilly), twins Holly and Jack, and eldest child Megan, all of whom Gordon Ramsay shares with his wife Tana (via Heart). There is a significant age difference between the elder four children and baby Oscar, but every member of the crew bears a strong resemblance to one parent or the other. Baby Oscar perhaps channels his famous dad the closest, as they started twinning facial expressions as early as five months old, as PopSugar pointed out.
Sibling Tilly started sharing the cuteness that is her baby brother as she began managing the Oscar Ramsay Instagram account when she was just 17 years old in 2019. That account now has over 320,000 followers and counting, as fans can't get enough of the sweet baby and his famous father (via Instagram).
And Gordon Ramsay is clearly loving it all.
Gordon Ramsay loves being a dad
Gordon Ramsay has opened up in many interviews about wanting to provide a better life for his kids than his own father was able to provide for him, per CNN, but that required those long hours at the restaurant. Ramsay said, "I've never been a hands-on dad. I'm not ashamed to admit it, but you can't run a restaurant and be home for tea at 4:30 and bath and change nappies," (via People). While Ramsay appears to be a very loving father, it's definitely clear just looking at his television and appearancess that the celebrity chef had an intense travel and work schedule during his older children's early years.
When it comes to his new mini, Ramsay is now in a career position to be more present and more available. In a 2019 interview with Mirror, the chef said, "I am convinced I am going to spend more time with Oscar. I am excited to be more hands-on."
Not only do we wish Ramsay gets that extra time with his family, but we are also here for all the adorable pics the family wants to share with us too. That said, between Oscar's star power and all the television expertise his dad has amassed, it's probably no time at all before we get a "Celebrity Kids in the Kitchen" show. You can see it now, can't you? Gordon and Oscar Ramsay take on Bobby and Sophie Flay in a culinary showdown. We'd watch that.
