Gather the ingredients to prepare this chunky apple streusel bread
The first step to making chunky apple streusel bread is to gather all of your ingredients ahead of time. Luckily, everything required is simple and easy to find. Many of the items are the basics.
For this recipe, you'll need 1 cup of white sugar, 1 ¾ cups of brown sugar, 3 ¼ cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 ½ tablespoons of ground cinnamon, two eggs, ½ cup of oil, 1 cup of milk, four small apples (diced), and 4 tablespoons of butter. That's it! Pretty simple, just like we promised.
Mix the dry ingredients
Once your ingredients are gathered and ready to go, it's time to get to mixing and baking. First, preheat your oven to 350 F to allow it to come up to the proper temperature. To mix the batter, start by adding all of the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Add in 1 cup of white sugar, 1 cup of brown sugar, 2 ¼ cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Mix the dry ingredients with a hand mixer until well combined.
Finish the batter
To finish off the batter, add in the eggs. Next, add in the oil, and then add in the milk. Mix until a batter forms, but be sure not to over-mix. Once the batter is ready, toss the diced apples in a bit of flour, and then mix them into the batter, too. Be sure to reserve ½ cup of the diced apples for the delicious topping, because it's a really special touch.
Make the streusel, and then bake the chunky apple streusel bread
Once the batter is ready, prepare two loaf pans by spraying them with cooking spray. Divide the batter between the two pans.
To make the streusel topping, add 1 cup of flour, ¾ cup of brown sugar, and ½ tablespoon of cinnamon in a bowl, and stir to combine everything well. Melt the butter in the microwave or on the stovetop, and then pour the butter into the bowl. Use a large fork to mix the ingredients, and combine until clumps form. Stir in the reserved apples.
With the topping ready, sprinkle the streusel over both prepared loaf pans, and put them in the oven. Bake the breads for one hour until the middle is fully set. Remove from the oven, and allow the breads to cool completely before slicing and digging in. This recipe is a great one to pull out any time of year, and your family or guests will absolutely be obsessed with it!
