Heinz Just Launched A Petition To Fix This Confusing Hot Dog Problem
If you've ever grilled hot dogs in your life, then you will probably recognize this scenario: you've grilled all 10 hot dogs that came in the store-bought pack, but the package of hot dog buns contained only eight, leaving you with two extra hot dogs that don't have a home. The only solution is to buy a whole extra bun package just for two extra hot dogs, or simply try to find some other less-satisfying bun substitute for the remaining hot dogs, like putting them in sandwich bread or simply eating them plain. Since hot dogs and buns are sold almost with the sole purpose of being eaten together, one can't help but wonder, why on Earth are hot dogs sold in packs of 10, but hot dog buns are only sold in packs of eight?
Well, Heinz has finally had enough of this nonsensical, uneven pairing. They recently began a campaign to make the number of hot dogs and the number of buns in each pack equal at last. "10 Wieners. 10 buns. It's Time," they declared on their new website, heinzhotdogpact.com, which they set up to help raise awareness about this disparity.
Heinz wants to end the hot dog/bun packaging mismatch
The company feels so strongly about this issue that they have launched a Change.org petition for people to sign, in the hopes of convincing the hot dog and bun manufacturers to change their confusing ways. "As the condiment that has been bringing foods together for over 150 years, we've decided enough is enough ... We're calling on Big Bun and Big Wiener companies to find the answer to this hot dog packaging mismatch, once and for all," they declared on Change.org. They went on to implore their fellow grilling aficionados: "Let's change hot dog history together."
To date, over 500 people have already signed the petition, hoping to finally bring the 10 hot dogs to 10 buns dream a reality. "100% in for this. It has been so annoying running out of buns over the years. Then to resort to bread slices in a pinch. Just isn't the same," one passionate signer commented on the petition. "It just makes sense!" another added. All those who feel equally passionate about the hot dog to bun ratio can add their name to the Heinz Hot Dog Pact petition to help finally bring about equality between hot dogs and their buns.
