Did Doja Cat's Teeth Really Fall Out While Eating A Cookie?
Doja Cat is one tough cookie. The "Kiss Me More" singer recently showed up (virtually) on L.A. radio host Big Boy's talk show, adorned in an eye mask after having just woken up (via Complex). The interview was supposed to take place in person, but apparently Doja Cat had a dental emergency that shook things up. While she seemed a little tired, the singer whose song "Say So" went viral on TikTok last year, showed no signs of having just suffered through a pretty major emergency.
But when asked what happened to her teeth, Doja Cat told the radio host that they "fell out" while eating a cookie in her car. That's right — the singer lost her teeth because of a cookie (the type she was eating is still in question), and despite still being in pain from the whole ordeal, Doja Cat seemed in good spirits throughout the interview. However, we're sure you're wondering, how do a person's teeth just fall out? We wondered the same. And after listening to the interview in full, we've got answers for you.
How does something like this happen?
The good news is, if you're still working with your original set of pearly whites, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. It turns out Doja Cat was in the process of getting veneers when the cookie culprit struck (via Complex). If you don't know what veneers are, just imagine a dentist shaving your original teeth down to tiny nubs, then capping those nubs with pristine, white "fake" teeth.
Doja Cat explained to Big Boy that because her veneers were individuals rather than in one whole piece, they were a little loose and got stuck in the cookie. And what did the performer do in this moment of dental trauma? She pried her veneers from the baked good and tossed them out the window. By the time the interview rolled around, the singer had gotten her veneers replaced and looked as stunning and carefree as ever, but she said that despite her new smile, she was still in a lot of pain. "I can't smile," she confessed. "I have sores all throughout my mouth. I, like, can't move my face."
Big Boy complimented the singer's strength, noting that in a world where everyone seems so angry, she appeared to be eternally optimistic. Doja Cat replied that she's trying not to focus too much on cancel culture and all the bad in the world. "I literally just put out an album, and I'm so excited," she said. "And, like, my teeth are new!"
