Easy Slow Cooker Ravioli Lasagna Recipe
If lasagna is one of your favorite foods, you are certainly not alone. It's difficult to think of a way you could improve on something that's already tastes so incredible. Unless, of course, you create the dish using an ingredient that's close to perfection on its own: ravioli. That's right — this slow cooker recipe consists of ravioli squares laid out and cooked lasagna-style, and yes, the result is positively scrumptious.
If you think this recipe couldn't get better than that, you're certainly mistaken. Slow cooker ravioli lasagna is so simple to put together. "This is my favorite 'lazy lasagna,'" says recipe developer and private practice registered dietician Kristen Carli of Camelback Nutrition & Wellness. "It is so easy [and] a great slow cooker meal to impress the whole family for dinner on a weeknight."
If you have 10 minutes of free time right now and four hours until dinner, then you can absolutely make this meal that will be a huge hit with everyone in the house. And if you're having guests over, you can turn this situation into a true feast. "[This dish] would be great paired with salmon or baked chicken," Carli says, adding: "And I would always be sure to throw in a side of veggies."
Gather the ingredients to prepare easy slow cooker ravioli lasagna
As laid out here, this recipe makes eight generous servings. It's perfect for a big family or anyone who wants to enjoy tasty leftovers during the week. According to Carli, the good news is, "This stores great in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days [and] reheats great in the microwave."
All in, to make a batch of easy slow cooker ravioli, you'll need a large bag of frozen cheese ravioli, two jars of marinara sauce, lots of shredded mozzarella cheese, freshly chopped basil, and Parmesan cheese for topping. That's it! Once you have your ingredients rounded up, it's time to move on to the next step.
Layer the sauce, ravioli, and cheese in the slow cooker
In a 4-quart slow cooker, add half a jar of sauce, spreading it out to fully cover the bottom. Then, place in one layer of the ravioli squares, using half of the bag and spreading them out evenly. Next, sprinkle in 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the ravioli, then pour in another half jar of sauce on top of that.
Now, repeat the process, placing in a second layer of ravioli, topping that with sauce, and then wrapping up with a final layer of cheese spread out to top it off. Is your mouth watering yet?
Slow cook the ravioli lasagna
Your easy slow cooker ravioli lasagna is prepped. See how easy that was? Now all you have to do is pop the lid on top of the slow cooker, and cook the dish on high for four hours. When the time is up, scoop out servings of this delectable dinner, and top them with freshly chopped basil and generous sprinklings of Parmesan cheese.
If you want to add some red pepper flakes for heat, feel free to do so. For that side of veggies Carli previously mentioned, a refreshing, crisp salad would perfectly round out this meal, as would lightly cooked kale that still has plenty of crunch.
