Copycat Burger King Double Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Biscuit Recipe

It's hard to beat a big breakfast sandwich from Burger King, but sometimes even fast food isn't fast enough. And at other times, you'd just rather not leave the house. So what's to be done? Make your own copycat sandwich that "would rock a taste test," says chef and recipe developer Angela Latimer of Bake it With Love. "It is really delicious, and fresh is always best."

And don't worry if you're not exactly a master chef. "This is a super easy breakfast to make and even faster if you can multi-task and have two pans running: one for the egg, the other warming the sausage," says Latimer. Once you have your ingredients gathered, you can cook up and assemble this sandwich in all of ten minutes, and that's less time than you would have spent driving to Burger King anyway.

Still not efficient enough for you? Fine, plan ahead! You can whip up a batch of these sandwiches whenever you have some free time, then freeze them for later microwave re-heating. Now all you'll need is a minute or two, and breakfast will be ready for on-the-go enjoyment if need be. Just make sure to let the sandwiches cool completely before you freeze them, Latimer advises.

Gather your ingredients for a copycat Burger King Double Sausage, Egg, & Cheese Biscuit

All you need for this sandwich are a biscuit, sliced in half, a large egg, beaten, two sausage patties, two slices of American cheese, and a pinch of salt to mix into the egg right before you cook it. But don't think that the small list of ingredients yields a sandwich that's small on taste or on substance.

With all of this protein and some added carbs from the biscuit, this breakfast sandwich is guaranteed to keep you full for quite some time. That makes it perfect for the first meal of the day.

Slice the biscuit, then cook the egg

Slice the biscuit in half (or biscuits, of course, if you're prepping several sandwiches). Then, in a small bowl, beat the egg with a pinch of salt.

Bring a small to medium-size non-stick skillet or greased frying pan to medium-low heat and add the beaten egg, then roll the pan to spread the egg out in a thin layer. Now let pan rest so the egg can cook through completely.

Next, slide a spatula under the edges of the egg to release it from the pan, then fold edges in to form square patty. Transfer the egg to a plate.

Heat the sausage and melt the cheese

Place your sausage patties into the frying pan and cook them at medium heat for two to three minutes or until browned, then flip them to cook the second sides. Once nearly done on the other side, add one slice of American cheese to each cooking sausage patty and allow the cheese to melt.

If you are using frozen sausage patties, you can get them out of the freezer with enough time to let them thaw. If not, note that you will need to add some time here and keep the heat a bit lower so they don't burn on the outside before cooking through.

Assemble the sandwich, then dig in!

Assemble the breakfast sandwich by stacking the sausage patties with cheese on top of one another on the bottom half of the biscuit, then adding the folded egg, then putting the top half of the biscuit on. And you're done. Enjoy!

Not that you need anything to pair here, but if you want something else, Latimer has two ideas for you. "Fruit or a yogurt parfait would be an ideal side with a heavy sandwich like this," she says, but on the other hand, you could also just "stick with whatever hash browns you can fry up!"
