Read This Before Buying Costco Laundry Detergent
Costco is pretty useful if you're a fan of stocking up on essentials in one place when you're out shopping. You can even find a life partner if you're lucky. As per a piece by Eat This, Not That!, a couple that met while grocery shopping at a Costco decided to tie the knot there. How adorable! But even if you aren't browsing for love, Costco has items you might fall in love with. The store's in-house label, Kirkland Signature is pretty popular and offers good value for the money. Its products are usually prepared in the same locations and factories as those belonging to more expensive brands.
As highlighted by MoneyWise, some of the best Kirkland products to consider when you're browsing at Costco include extra virgin oil, maple syrup, cashews, coffee beans, dish detergent, toilet paper, and more. One household item that might not work so well? Its laundry detergent. If you're picky about quality, you might not be thrilled with Kirkland's laundry detergent.
The smell can be oppressive
As per Costco fans on Reddit, Kirkland Signature liquid laundry detergent leaves a particularly unpleasant smell. One commenter said that while the cleaning quality was alright, "once our clothes were washed and dried, they smelled like when you leave clothes wet for too long and they start to sour." Another commenter agreed and wrote, "The perfume smell was overwhelming. I had to return it. I had headache wearing my clothes." One Redditor chimed in to say that after experiencing an aroma problem, they had to use more detergent than Costco recommended to resolve the issue.
A couple of people opined that the smell of the lavender-scented detergent is a bit too much and that it may be wiser to opt for the orange variant. Or you know, it might be a good idea to stick to a different brand while purchasing laundry detergent at the store. It's better to be safe than sorry, after all.
