These Trader Joe's Chocolate Mousse Eggs Are Perfect For Easter
Some holidays are just synonymous with chocolate and Easter is definitely one of those holidays. It might not be Valentine's Day, but if you don't have at least one chocolate egg, is it even Easter at all? Well, there's good news for your wallet this year because Trader Joe's seasonal Chocolate Mousse Eggs are back and they're not only beautiful — topped with artistic swirls or specks of green and pink icing — they're also super affordable at $3.49 for a pack of six (via Instagram).
But it's not just the price that makes these chocolate eggs special, it's what's inside. These eggs are filled with a layer of moist chocolate cake topped with light, creamy chocolate mousse, all covered in a layer of (you guessed it) chocolate. And, if you just can't get enough of them, Instagrammer @traderjoesobsessed recommends double-bagging and storing them in the freezer for later. Clearly people were excited because the post gained over 4,900 likes in just two days, not to mention plenty of comments on the festive product's return.
What people have to say about Trader Joe's Chocolate Mousse Eggs
These chocolate mousse eggs might be news to you, but they're definitely not new, as the comments on @traderjoesobsessed's post were quick to point out. Plenty of people tagged friends in the post with comments like "these were so fire" and "I'm going to buy these and eat the entire pack on the drive home lol." Others were simply happy their seasonal favorite treat is back early, with one writing, "So happy about this! I got really sad because I thought that I would have to wait a hole another year for the Valentine's day cake. I picked up 3 packs!" Another commented, "These will be the death of me!!!!"
In fact, these treats are so popular that the only real negative comment on the Instagram post was in reference to the fat content, "Yum, these look good but too high in saturated fat." That and blogger What's Good at Trader Joe's review from 2019, which reads, "It's an enjoyable, soft bite that melds and holds together well, hitting a few classic comfort food points. But ultimately, there's just not that much memorable about them, either." So, if they sound like just your kind of thing, chances are you're probably going to love them. If not, there's plenty of other delicious options out there.
