The Pioneer Woman Just Gave An Update On The Condition Of Her Husband And Nephew
It has been a scary and difficult week for the star of the Food Network's Pioneer Woman, following a March 10 head-on collision involving her husband, Ladd, 57, and nephew, Caleb, 21. Ree recently provided an update on the conditions of both and thanked fans for their love and support.
According to Fox 23, both Ladd and Caleb, who serve as volunteer firefighters, were driving separate trucks responding to a fire on the massive 433,000-acre (via Showbiz CheatSheet) Drummond Ranch property in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. The ranch is both home to Ree and Ladd Drummond and their children and the setting for her reality cooking show.
Fox News reports that Caleb was ejected about 70 feet from his vehicle after impact, and was then life-flighted to a nearby hospital. He is in critical condition and his injuries were described in an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report as "head, trunk internal, arm, and leg."
Drummond thanked fans for their support
It has been reported that Ladd Drummond suffered only minor injuries in the accident, although, according to Ree Drummond, he is currently "in the hospital." It is not clear when or why he was admitted. Ladd and Caleb Drummond taking part of an ongoing fire-fighting effort in the region. According to Fox 23, grass fires, fueled by high winds have plagued northeastern Oklahoma in recent days.
The Highway Patrol report cites "speed due to traffic conditions" as the cause of the collision. The document also stated: "Due to high winds on a gravel road, visibility was decreased causing Vehicle-1 and Vehicle-2 to hit head-on."
On Thursday, Ree Drummond posted an update on her husband's and nephew's conditions, writing on Facebook, "I want to thank you all for your prayers for our family. Caleb and Ladd are in the hospital, but we think they will both be okay. As a family we are giving thanks today, knowing things could have been much worse. Thank you all for your love and kindness. It means a lot."
