This Is How Much Fox's Pizza Den Employees Make
Good pizza may be hard to find for some, but if there's a Fox's Pizza Den in your neighborhood, you're lucky enough to not have this problem. While pizza is "just pizza" to some, if you've been able to indulge in a deliciously cheesy slice from this particular pizza chain, then you understand that true, good pizza is a form of delicacy. And for Fox's Pizza Den — which its official website notes as becoming "an instant success" upon its opening in 1971 in Pitcairn, Pennsylvania — "good pizza" isn't the only thing that they're serving up.
Supplying customers with an extensive menu that includes a variety of pizzas, strombolis, hoagies, wedgies, salads, sides, and desserts, Fox's Pizza Den has grown to become one of the most celebrated pizza joints around. Racking up a number of awards including "Best Pizza Franchise of 1993 by the National Pizza and Pasta Association and PMQ's 2005 and 2007 Pizza Industry Enterprise (PIE) award," the brand's site mentions that magazines like Entrepreneur and Pizza Today continuously add it to its lists of the "best pizza and sandwich franchises in the United States."
Not too bad for a restaurant that Entrepreneur notes was launched by a 24-year-old Jim Fox with only "$500, a rented storeroom, and a few pieces of used equipment." But with all of the accolades that the blossoming brand has received over the last 50 years, does that mean the pay for employees is also cause for celebration?
Cooks at Fox's Pizza Den don't get paid as much as you think
If you're looking to pick up an extra job at one of the more than 200 franchises Fox's Pizza Den has, you might want to think again. According to Indeed, those who want to flex their culinary skills for the company can expect to make an average hourly wage of only $8.89. Pizza cooks, however, make a bit more, with their average being around $9.29 an hour, but that is still 21 percent below national average, according to Indeed. Delivery drivers make a little over $11 an hour, while shift leaders and shift managers are only making anywhere between $10.27 to $10.69 per hour. Don't think that general managers make much more either. Indeed has them listed as making a salary of $27,919 or — when broken down to an hourly amount — about $14 per hour.
And what about the cashiers? Glassdoor has them listed as making an average amount ranging from $8 to $9 per hour. The hostess, on the other hand, makes an average of $1 less with their hourly pay averaging around $7 to $8. Now, as with most companies, these rates listed can all change depending on a number of factors like location, the duties your role has, experience, and more. But, if you were considering picking up some extra work on the side and Fox's Pizza Den was your preferred place of employment, these numbers are good to have handy for comparison.
