Whatever Happened To Hershey's Bites?
Remember Hershey's Bites? Hershey's took some of your favorite candy bars and transformed them into tiny, poppable balls. You no longer had to wrestle with crinkly, hard-to-open candy wrappers. You just ripped the top of the Hershey Bites bag and literally poured these sweet chocolatey gems down your gullet.
The Bites line, which included Rolo, Kit Kat, York Peppermint Patty, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, among others, was introduced in the early 2000s, according to the Hershey Community Archives. Not all candies can be a hit, though. We have seen many favorite Hershey candy bars vanish over the years. The reason that Hershey's Bites disappeared could mirror many such factors, including low sales and/or diminished consumer interest (via xtalks). According to So Yummy, Reese's Bites were discontinued in 2007 because they posed a choking hazard. A year later, the entire Bites line was gone. However, some Bites are still offered by Hershey's, according to the website, which seems to eliminate the choking hazard theory. So, which Bites can you still get and will all of these once-available varieties eventually return?
Which Hershey's Bites are still available?
According to Hershey's website, you can still purchase Hershey's Cookie Bites, Pretzel Bites, and Cookies 'N' Creme Cookie Bites. They may not be the Kit Kits, Almond Joys, or Reese's that you are craving, but they still quell the craving for a poppable chocolate candy that you can consume quickly, like potato chips. This bears the question, can you eat just one? According to Fat Secret, 17 Bites come to 140 calories. They are all available in a 1.8-ounce tube or 7.5-ounce pouch.
While you wait patiently to see if any of your other favorite Bites return, check out the new Whozeewhatzit bar from the Whatchamacallit brand, too. It will be the company's first new candy bar in a decade, and it will be available starting in February 2021, according to a Hershey's press release. The new candy bar features chocolatey crisps and peanut butter enrobed in milk chocolate. Something to take your mind off of those Bites, perhaps?
