What Great British Bake Off Winner Candice Brown Is Up To Now
Fans of The Great British Bake Off probably remember her as the woman with the perfectly painted pout. A contestant on Season 7 of the popular cooking show in 2016, Candice Brown was known as much for her trademark lipstick as she was for her sponge cakes and over-the-top culinary creations. The former gym teacher to kids with special needs also made waves in gossip columns when she was spotted kissing GBBO judge Paul Hollywood in public.
Regardless of the scandal and snark surrounding Brown, she won her season of The Great British Bake Off when she put together a picnic feast that even the Queen herself would approve of. But in the five years that have followed her win, what has the baking champion been up to? Here's what the season 7 winner has accomplished after her on-screen success and what she's doing now. Hint: There's a lot of cooking involved.
She's taken her cooking career off-air
While Brown has appeared on a few shows following her The Great British Bake Off win (including Celebrity Mastermind and even a brief stint on Dancing on Ice, US Magazine reports), for the most part, her post-show accomplishments happened off-air. In 2017, she published a cookbook titled Comfort: Delicious Bakes and Family Treats, which features some of Brown's favorite baking recipes that she learned from her nan and mum from tarts and pastries to cakes to Nan's butterscotch brownies.
Brown has also since opened her own restaurant, The Green Man Pub, in Eversholt, Bedfordshire in England with her brother Ben. "I want to do the best Sunday lunches, and comforting, warming and hearty food," she told BANG Showbiz prior to the pub opening its doors (via The Daily Mail). The menu offers a variety of unique British pub food, like baked crayfish gnocchi, bacon and brie toasties, and sticky toffee pudding — all created by Brown, of course.
