Aldi's New Wine Comes In This Interesting Flavor
You may already be familiar with the bulk of Aldi's wine selection. If you've been shopping there for years, you probably already have a good sense of which wines you should buy, which ones you can definitely skip, and which bottles could go either way, depending on the sipper's palate. Even the most experienced Aldi wine shoppers, however, may scratch their heads at the grocery chain's latest release. The Petit Vanilla Bean Wine Specialty is exactly what it sounds like: a vanilla bean wine (via Delish).
"A blend of white wine with rich vanilla flavor and finest cream," the Aldi product description explains. "Its rich and creamy taste makes this wine specialty a delightful dessert on its own or a perfect companion to all kinds of desserts and ice cream."
So if you're an adventurous drinker who enjoys the taste of vanilla, you may want to check the shelves of your local store to try this surprising wine.
How does it taste?
This wine has actually appeared at Aldi before, according to alcohol blogger Goo Wak Jai, who reviewed this wine last March and decided that it was drinkable, but not great: "This newest iteration is alright. It's more cream than vanilla bean, if anything, which isn't a bad thing in and of itself. The cream flavor ... will eventually get to you, if you don't have a sweet tooth like me."
You may remember some of the previous wine flavors released in the series. From the same makers, we've also seen the Petit Toffee Buttermint Wine Specialty and the Petit Coconut Wine Specialty. Plus, there was also the Valentine's Day variety, the Petit Chocolate Wine Specialty, which food blog Kitchn described as "legit good," though it "wouldn't be my go-to for a post-work drink." With these specialty flavored wines, try them if you're interested, but know that, odds are, they're not going to be the best wine you've ever experienced.
