It Might Soon Be Your Last Chance To Order A McRib. Here's Why
If you can't get enough of the unique taste of the McRib, you're not alone. According to Forbes, the sandwich returned to the U.S.national market on December 2, 2020, and with the demand for the sandwich at an all-time high, the popularity of the McRib easily eclipses even the desire for new menu items, like plant-based burger options. Despite the massive crowd appeal, all good things must come to an end.
According to Fansided, the current iteration of the McRib might not last much longer. The site speculates that the sandwich should disappear from McDonald's menus by the spring, if not sooner. If you have the McDonald's app, you potentially received a reminder to order a McRib before it disappears, and since McRibs usually get pulled two months after they launch, we should expect to see the sandwiches vanish in the next few weeks (via Fansided). These fears were substantiated further by reddit user u/What_Is_Big_Chungus in their comment, "In the break room at my McDonald's there is a screen with news. I recall seeing an end date for the McRib... It looks like the end date has been removed but the spicy nuggets will be returning on the 27th. In my area, at least."
We need to start bracing to say goodbye to this sandwich for now, but if history has taught us anything, the McRib will return.
An incredibly short McRib run
The brief run of the McRib feels almost criminal. After all, the sandwich has only graced menus for six weeks. If this extremely limited-time deal feels ludicrous, it might not be that strange when viewed from a marketing standpoint. Like the Shamrock Shake, McDonald's introduces the McRib for very short time periods to stir fans up and get people excited. If the menu item could get ordered any time of year, the appeal might slow down (via Fansided). We just need to hold out and hope that we can see this fan favorite return again soon.
If you haven't gotten your fill of McRibs this year, make sure to plan an expedition to your local McDonald's soon and stock up while you can. It looks like the end has come for this sandwich, and with some very apparent signs looming, we may have entered the final weeks where we can easily snag a McRib. Move fast while you can, as we have no idea when McDonald's plans to pull the plug on the sandwich — just that it will be soon.
