McDonald's Has Good News For Fans Of Its Peppermint Mocha
Peppermint fans, rejoice! McDonald's has brought back its peppermint mocha for a limited time this season at participating locations. McDonald's peppermint mocha is available hot, iced, or as hot chocolate, and features espresso, milk, chocolate mint syrup, and a topping of whipped cream and chocolate drizzle, according to Brand Eating. A small, hot, McDonald's peppermint mocha has 290 calories, 10 grams of fat, 43 grams of carbs, and 39 grams of sugar, according to McDonald's.
Last season, Colin Leggett compared the McDonald's McCafe peppermint mocha to Starbucks' peppermint mocha in a review for Narcity. The result? Leggett said the McDonald's peppermint mocha had a stronger peppermint smell and taste (bordering on artificial), while the Starbucks version had a heavier chocolate taste. In the end, Leggett preferred the Starbucks version, although he said the McDonald's peppermint mocha stood out on its own. An earlier review from Pop Sugar compared McDonald's peppermint mocha to an Andes Mint, saying that it was "not too sweet." Some even liked it more than the Starbucks version.
More McDonald's holiday offerings
Want something to go along with that peppermint mocha? Are you a fan of McDonald's pies? Well, you're in luck. McDonald's also brought back its popular holiday pie. Thoroughly glazed with sugar, and topped with rainbow sprinkles, the flaky and buttery little hand-held pie is filled with vanilla custard and sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. Twitter has been in a frenzy over the holiday pie from McDonald's, but, again, they're only available at participating locations (via Food Network).
Curious about the nutritional content of other holiday treats? If you opt for a medium peppermint hot chocolate with nonfat milk instead of a peppermint mocha, you'll consume less fat, but more calories, carbs, and sugar: 330 calories, 3.5 grams of fat, 60 grams of carbs, and 55 grams of sugar. Believe it or not, the lowest-calorie option, although highest in fat, is the holiday pie, with 260 calories, 12 grams of fat, 32 grams of carbs, and 12 grams of sugar (via McDonald's). But who's counting, really? It's the holidays!
