The Untold Truth Of A Recipe For Seduction
There's always that one family member who loves the cheesy holiday movies that are released on Lifetime every holiday season. They're typically the same relative who constantly reads romance novels with book covers that can't help but seem inappropriate. Well, this year, as wild as it has been, there's a whole new breed of steamy holiday movie, and it is definitely not what you would expect.
Lifetime has partnered with Kentucky Fried Chicken to bring you a one-of-a-kind mini-movie, A Recipe For Seduction. The entertainment channel tweeted that the Lifetime Original Mini-Movie stars Mario Lopez and will premiere on Sunday, December 13th, at noon. If your interest isn't already piqued, it does get better. The movie was described in a statement as being "full of mystery, suspense, deception, 'fowl' play and — at the heart of it all — love and fried chicken." That's a whole lot of entertainment and KFC-loving puns to fit into the mini-movie that's just 15 minutes long.
This is what the plot of the movie will look like
The 15-minute movie is set leading up to the holidays. Actress Justene Alpert, formerly of The Matchmaker's Playbook and Bosch (via HITC), plays a young heiress who struggles with the affections of a suitable man her mother (played by All My Children's Tessa Munro) picked just for her to date and marry. However, when a young and good-looking chef enters the picture with his secret fried chicken recipe and a dream, the young heiress begins to have feelings for him. The cook to the snobby and wealthy family, Colonel Harland Sanders (played by Mario Lopez), eventually kicks off a series of events that are the undoing of the mother's plans (via Meaww).
Though it isn't clear just yet, the trailer appears to show the mother and the suitor conspiring to kill chef Colonel Harland Sanders. There also seems to be another act of murder or aggression toward a character we don't formally meet in the trailer but whose body we see lying on a staircase. To top it all off, the mother and the suitor she selected for her daughter appear to be having an affair. It's a juicy plot for sure, but you'll have to tune in to see if the heiress ends up with Sanders or the suitor.
Here's how you should enjoy the movie
Andrea Zahumensky, the U.S. chief marketing officer for KFC, chimed in on the announcement of the KFC-inspired movie: "We're no stranger to heating things up for the holidays, just like our famous fried chicken-scented Firelog." She went on to add, "But let's face it, we could all use a little distraction this holiday season, so why not fill some of your time at home with a suspenseful drama and the comfort of our world-famous fried chicken? A Recipe for Seduction is a perfect excuse to curl up at home and escape to your own happily ever after." You have to agree, there can't be a better way to watch a "steamy holiday love affair" between a young heiress, a mom-approved suitor, and a handsome chef with "a secret fried chicken recipe and a dream" than with a bucket of KFC. And don't forget the mashed potatoes.
To mark the occasion, you can order KFC on Uber Eats for delivery to really bring the "deep-fried holiday romance" home. Customers will receive six extra-crispy tenders for free on orders of $20 or more. That way the spell of the Colonel's secret 11 herbs and spices will be all the more vivid as the heiress's mother watches her plans fold. However you choose to spend your Sunday lunch, chances are this KFC short will definitely be entertaining.
