Dairy Queen Just Brought Back A Holiday Fan Favorite
Looking for a tasty, festive treat to celebrate the holidays? You're officially in luck: Dairy Queen's got you covered with a returning seasonal favorite. The Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard, which debuted last year, is available at participating locations around the U.S. as DQ's featured Blizzard of the Month (via Best Products). According to Dairy Queen's website, this frozen treat features "Peppermint candy cane pieces, choco chunks and cocoa fudge blended with our world-famous soft serve blended to Blizzard® perfection then topped with whipped topping and candy cane pieces."
"The Peppermint Hot Cocoa BLIZZARD of the Month is here! Don't your tastebuds want to join in the cheer?" the chain recently tweeted, accompanying the announcement with a sweet little animation of a mug of hot cocoa and a candy cane cheers-ing to the holidays, protected from the snowstorm outside by the warm safety of being inside the Blizzard cup. (Actually, this Blizzard is a frozen treat that, if anything, will make you feel colder, but don't tell the anthropomorphic candy cane that — why ruin his fun?)
Festive beverages to enjoy the season
The Peppermint Hot Cocoa Blizzard joins Dairy Queen's selection of Blizzards available only for a limited time. The other options available right now include the Choco-dipped Strawberry Blizzard Treat, the Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough Blizzard Treat, the Brownie Dough Blizzard Treat, and the Oreo Mocha Fudge Blizzard Treat. In addition to these limited-time Blizzards, DQ is also celebrating the holiday season with a festive cake featuring a friendly snowman face (with "coal" eyes and a "carrot" nose, all actually made out of frosting) wearing an iced on Santa hat.
Too cold for Blizzards or ice cream cake? Then you might want to skip DQ and head to Starbucks to get the chain's warmer take on peppermint hot chocolate (one that's actually hot) or to pick up a peppermint hot chocolate you can prepare at home at Costco or Trader Joe's. Prefer your festive drinks to be boozy? You can always spike your cocoa with some peppermint Schnapps.
