The Truth About Jamie Oliver And Gordon Ramsay's Tumultuous Relationship

Celebrity chefs Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay publicly lashed out at each other for years. As a Metro piece illustrated, the two cooking legends have clashed several times in the past and said some pretty harsh stuff about each other. It all started with Gordon Ramsay saying something unkind about Australian TV personality Tracy Grimshaw's looks that upset Oliver enough for him to speak out publicly against Ramsay.

"Aussies aren't forgiving. Once you're gone, you're gone... It's never good to criticize a woman, especially when they're loved by their country and you do it on national television," Oliver said. Well, Ramsay didn't stay silent and called Oliver a "one-pot wonder." Uh oh. Oliver also once suggested that Ramsay's wife, Tana was a better chef than her husband. "If I was to choose between Gordon Ramsay's cookbook or Tana Ramsay's, it would be Tana's every time," Oliver said. Their feud continued for a long time, and one incident in particular between the two really crossed a line.

Their tense history

According to Hello! magazine, Ramsay had made fun of Oliver on ITV's The Night Show in the past, which led to Oliver speaking out against Ramsay. "I was doing TV years before him, so maybe five years ago, it [Ramsay's comments] would have bothered me and I may have responded. But he's got four kids and I've got five kids and I don't want to be slagging off some kids' dad on telly," he said. "It's not nice."

What Oliver didn't realize at that point was that Ramsay and Tana had lived through a miscarriage and took his comments personally. Ramsay basically decided to not speak to Oliver again after that but changed his mind last year after his rival's business suffered a major downfall. As the chef explained on The Jonathan Ross Show, he reached out to Oliver to express his support, and the two seem to have made up and moved beyond their past differences. Ramsay even said they were friends.
