Why Smucker's Goober Peanut Butter Isn't As Convenient As You Think
Peanut butter can be a rather versatile add-on to any dish, guaranteed to make you feel comforted on a regular day. Whether you prefer adding peanut butter to your sandwiches or prefer adding a dollop of the spread to your smoothies to make your shakes thicker, peanut butter can help make your recipes a lot more interesting. As per Eat This, Not That!, plain peanut butter without any additives or sugar can be a rather healthy treat that can be enjoyed in moderation.
However, some options are better for you than their counterparts, both in terms of taste and health. You might think that includes Smucker's Goober Peanut Butter, a combination of peanut butter and jelly that may seem like a godsend for those sandwiches but doesn't really deliver in the end. Wondering why it's not such a great choice? Read on for more details.
It's not very convenient or tasty
Smucker's Goober Peanut Butter and Jelly may seem like the perfect option but you may want to reconsider. Even though the bottle combines peanut butter and jelly and is available in two flavors – grape and strawberry, it's not the best option out there for your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. You see, the problem is that the concoction doesn't taste great when mixed together. According to a Reddit user, things take a turn for the worse super fast after a few scoops. "Gross jelly. Subpar peanut butter. It all mushes together about three scoops in. Garbage idea," they wrote when asked to share their take on pre-combined peanut butter and jelly.
Plus, it's not so great for you when it comes to your health either. According to Smucker's website, three tablespoons of the Goober Grape Peanut Butter and Jelly has 220 calories, 11 grams of fat, 30 grams of carbohydrates, 5 grams of protein, and here's the kicker ... 21 grams of sugar. In comparison, the brand's Natural Peanut Butter has 190 calories (2 tablespoons), 16 grams of fat, 7 grams of carbohydrates, 8 grams of protein, and just 2 grams of sugar. Peanut butter has healthy fat which makes it safe to consume in moderation as long as you avoid extra sugar and huge portion sizes. So the next time you're craving a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, make one for yourself instead of relying on the pre-made jars.
