This Pumpkin Pie Flavored Milk Is Turning Heads
First it was the always-popular PSL. Then came — wait for it — pumpkin flavored mac and cheese. Trader Joe's has doubled down on its pumpkin offerings this season and so it seems, we cannot get enough of this autumnal favorite. Luckily, Schneider's Dairy has you covered with its limited-time pumpkin pie milk (via TribLive). Yum!
According to Emily Barge, spokeswoman for the Center for Dairy Excellence, this product is a natural opportunity given that flavored whole milks have grown in popularity by 36 percent between 2015 and 2019. And lest you think flavored milks like the pumpkin pie variety are bad for your teeth and waistline, nutrition specialist Liz Jalkiewicz toldTribLive, "Flavored milk is nutritious, affordable, convenient and most of all, tasty" and adds the product has the same essential nutrients as regular milk — such as protein, calcium, and vitamins A and D.
Where to find pumpkin pie flavored milk
Sadly, this fall flavor is not available everywhere — according to WPXI, the sweet beverage is being sold at Pennsylvania grocers for a limited time. If you are not lucky enough to live in the Keystone state, you could try to make a similar drink on your own. Back to the Book Nutrition says a pumpkin spice milk treat is kind of like a PSL minus the coffee and caffeine, which makes it a great after dinner sip for pumpkin lovers of all ages.
All you'll need to prepare homemade pumpkin spice milk is, well, milk (dairy free options work well here, too), and pumpkin puree, plus vanilla and maple syrup. An immersion blender whips all ingredients together, and bam! You have a seasonal treat to make you feel all warm and toasty inside no matter what the weather outside is doing. Speaking of toasty, this treat can also be enjoyed warm.
The only thing left to wonder is what's next on the pumpkin flavored front? Pumpkin cheesecake ice cream anyone?
