Chick-Fil-A's New Southern-Style Sandwich Is Turning Heads
Chick-fil-A announced some changes on Monday, September 14: The menu now features a new chocolate fudge brownie, Thrive Farmers hot coffee, and mocha cream cold brew coffee. While your attention might be drawn toward the new coffee (finally!), there's a new and exciting, in our opinion, sandwich hitting some locations too (via WSPA).
The chicken chain with a cult-like following is testing a new Southern-style sandwich at select locations in South Carolina and North Carolina, according to The Chicken Wire. Though the sandwiches will be available to try for a while, there's a limited supply. So, if you're lucky enough to live in the area, swing by to try the new Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich while supplies last. It's probably a fair assumption that these sandwiches will sell out incredibly fast.
This is what to expect from the new sandwich
If you're wondering what makes this sandwich Southern, it's the toppings — essentially, Chick-fil-A took its original chicken sandwich and amped up the flavor with new toppings. The new sandwich still has the deliciously juicy fried chicken you know and love on a toasted bun, but it's drizzled with honey and topped with Southern-style pimento cheese along with mild pickled jalapeños, according to The Chicken Wire.
Whether you're a fan of pimento cheese or not, this sandwich wasn't tossed together overnight. Chef Stuart Tracy, one of Chick-fil-A's senior culinary developers, spent more than a year making this sandwich concept absolutely perfect. "This is the first variation of the Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich we've tested as a seasonal item," said Tracy. "We have a feeling guests will love it." If it was made with the attention to detail that Chick-fil-A tends to use when creating new menu items, there's little doubt this sandwich will be amazing.
So try it if you can. Otherwise, keep your fingers crossed that it tests well and that it's headed to a Chick-fil-A near you!
