This Is Burger King's Most Underrated Menu Item
If you're like most people, you probably know your go-to order at any given fast food restaurant and rarely bother looking at the menu outside of a cursory glance to see if anything new catches your eye. While this is an understandable process (hey, you're likely not getting fast food because you have a ton of time to spare), you might be missing some of the best items by not considering all your options. While the Whopper usually gets all the hype, we're here to tell you the most underrated item on the Burger King menu is also one of the simplest.
Debuted in 2018, USA Today states that the Burger King Double Quarter Pound King Sandwich was likely a response to the popularity of rival fast food chain McDonalds' Double Quarter Pounder. They describe the Burger King version as two beef patties with American cheese, onions, pickles, and ketchup on a toasted sesame seed bun.
Why you should order Burger King's Double Quarter Pound King
In a review of every burger option on the Burger King menu, Insider states that the Burger King Double Quarter Pound King Sandwich is an amazing choice if you are looking for a classic, no-frills burger, describing the sandwich as a more adult version of the chain's double cheeseburger. While not the fanciest option on the menu, the Double Quarter Pound King contains two slices of American cheese, which the outlet says creates a much better meat-to-cheese ratio than other double meat sandwiches available at Burger King that only use one.
It is worth noting that the Burger King Double Quarter Pound King is not exactly the healthiest choice, even when compared to the other sandwiches on the Burger King menu, so we would suggest only making this burger a once in a while treat.
The Burger King Double Quarter Pound King Sandwich is not exactly healthy
According to the Burger King website, the Double Quarter Pound King contains 900 calories and 1,736 milligrams of sodium. That is close to half of the recommended amount of calories and over half of the amount of recommended sodium per day for the average adult according to the 2020 CDC guidelines. Pair that with a medium order of fries, and you're already at 1,283 calories and 2,305 milligrams of sodium in one meal.
While fast food isn't known for being good for you, we definitely didn't expect a burger and fries to contain this much sodium and so many calories. Everything in moderation, right?
