The Untold Truth Of Truly's New Extra Hard Seltzer
Hard seltzer had a meteoric rise to become the "it" drink of the summer last year, but was it just a fad? The numbers suggest otherwise. In 2019, the hard seltzer market was predicted to reach a value of $2.5 billion by 2021 (via Quantcast). Recent data shows that this projection is well underway. Hard seltzer sales soared 327 percent during the four-week period ending March 28, in comparison to the same period last year (via The Motley Fool).
The frontrunner of the hard seltzer trend is undoubtedly White Claw, and the brand has definitely geared up for the summer, which is peak season for the beverage. It released two new flavors in May. But that doesn't mean there aren't any other notable hard seltzers gaining buzz as we head into hotter weather months. It's still spring and people on TikTok are already going crazy over Truly Extra Hard Seltzer.
TikToker @meggagee recently posted a clip of herself holding two cans of the new hard seltzer while exclaiming, "I cannot even believe my eyes right now." In the short video, you can see that Truly Extra Hard Seltzer comes in two fruity flavors: Peach Mango and Black Raspberry. The TikToker is not the only one to be excited about this new drink — her clip has been viewed over 1.7 million times.
Why haven't many people been able to try Truly's new extra hard seltzer?
Refinery29 caught wind of Truly's new hard seltzer and reached out to the beverage company to find out more about it. As it turns out, if you're wondering why you haven't seen Truly Extra Hard Seltzer in the store or heard of it before, there's a very good reason why. A Truly spokesperson told the publication that the new product is only being tested at the moment — and only in New York.
This means that anyone outside of New York will have to wait until this test run ends. If it's successful, then Truly will more than likely roll out the extra hard seltzer to stores in other states. Until then, only New Yorkers can enjoy this beverage that has everyone talking.
Truly Extra Hard Seltzer has a higher alcohol percentage, compared to the rest of the Truly line. Each can of the new seltzer contains 8 percent ABV, while other Truly products have 5 percent ABV.
But just because you don't live in New York doesn't mean you can't enjoy something new from Truly. The company recently released a Summer Fridays Calendar — a variety pack of 16 flavors that comes in a box styled like an Advent calendar. You can treat yourself to a different flavor of Truly every Friday by opening a door marked with a number corresponding to the week.
