The actress had already made a name for herself while starring in movies like Spring Breakers, The Dead Don't Die, and Hotel Transylvania (via IMDB) — now she's ready to tackle becoming the next big cooking star.
Gomez's show will air on HBO Max and will feature 10 episodes around her cooking at home, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The actress will be joined remotely by an expert chef and together the duo will collaborate on various recipes, while sharing tips and tricks for viewers. It's all very intriguing, but the star admits she is no expert at cooking. So why is she doing a cooking show?
Selena Gomez confesses she's not a master chef but loves cooking
"I've always been very vocal about my love of food," Gomez told The Hollywood Reporter. "I think I've been asked hundreds of times in interviews if I had another career, what would I do and I've answered that it would be fun to be a chef. I definitely don't have the formal training though! Like many of us while being home I find myself cooking more and experimenting in the kitchen." It turns out HBO Max is the perfect platform for Gomez to try out her dream second career.
According to its site, HBO max is a new streaming platform that is set to launch on May 27. The service will have new content, like Gomez's show and also include fan-favorites like Friends and The Big Bang Theory.
"We are so excited to have Selena Gomez in our first wave of programming on HBO Max and watch her adventures in the kitchen as she, like many of us, tries to improve her cooking skills during quarantine," said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content for HBO Max. "Blending her determination with top-tier culinary artists is sure to entertain and educate viewers about something we're all trying to work through — how to make cooking at home exciting, fun and delicious."
